Sporting Club de Goa won their seventh crown

The recently concluded Goa Professional League saw Sporting Club de Goa emerge victorious this season, securing the title after a tense final match against Pax of Nagoa. Despite SESA’s impressive 8-0 victory over Young Boys of Tonca on the final day, it wasn’t enough to clinch the title as they fell just one point short.

Throughout the season, several players showcased their quality on the field. Among them, the top standout performers in the Goa Professional League 2023-24 deserve recognition for their exceptional contributions. From goal-scoring prowess to defensive resilience and midfield mastery, these players demonstrated their skill and determination.

We at Khel Now take a look at the top 5 standout performers who can have a chance to play for the Indian team in the future:

5. Abelson Jachi (Geno Sports Club)

Abelson proved to be a pivotal player for Geno throughout the season, primarily operating as a forward but showcasing versatility by controlling the midfield tempo and dropping deep to receive the ball and disrupt the opposition’s press. With six goals to his credit, his impactful contributions merit recognition as he played a crucial role in Geno’s sixth standing in the league.

4. Faseen PK (Dempo SC)

Faseen and Pratik Naik formed a formidable defensive duo, resembling an impenetrable wall throughout the season. Faseen, in addition to his defensive prowess, also showcased his goal-scoring ability by netting four goals in the league. Their partnership at the back was instrumental in maintaining solidity and stability for Dempo SC, but it wasn’t enough to retain the Goa Pro League title as the team finished third in the standings.

3. Abhimanyu Singh (Sporting Club de Goa)

Sporting Club de Goa, the champions of the Goa Pro League 2023-24, boasted the league’s stingiest defence, conceding just sixteen goals throughout the season. While credit is due to the entire backline, goalkeeper Abhimanyu Singh played a particularly influential role in their success. The 23-year-old’s standout performance included a crucial penalty save in the dying moments against Churchill Brothers, a pivotal moment believed to have secured Sporting Club de Goa’s position at the top of the table ahead of SESA.

2. Shubert Joanus Pereira (Pax of Nagoa)

Scoring 15 goals over the course of a nine-month league season is a remarkable achievement, and Shubert proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Displaying all the essential qualities of a top-class forward, his performances for Pax of Nagoa were consistently influential, despite the team not finishing in the top three. Shubert’s contributions were instrumental throughout the season, showcasing his prowess in front of goal.

1. Joshua D’Silva (SESA FA)

Words fail to capture the brilliance of Joshua’s performance in the Goa Pro League. Deemed as the super sub for SESA, he often entered the field in the second half and left an indelible mark. With a staggering 24 goals, he clinched the title of the league’s top scorer. While SESA narrowly missed the top spot in the league table, Joshua D’Silva’s remarkable performance stands out, marking him as a bright prospect for Indian football. Tall, quick, and clever, he possesses every trait required for a top striker, with his pace and finishing reaching another level of excellence.
