How can Churchill Brothers SC win the 2024-25 I-League title?

The Red Machine has been on a roll in the I-League this season.

The 2024-25 I-League title race has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for Goan club Churchill Brothers SC. The Red Machine sit at the top of the pile after accumulating 39 points in 21 I-League games this season.

During the whole season, the club has staved off several challengers, however, the title is still up for grabs between Churchill Brothers SC and two other teams, assuming Inter Kashi are out of the title race.

The Red Machine keep marching ahead

Churchill Brothers SC have been unbeaten in the league since mid-February winning three of their last six games. The Goan club are coming off a crucial 2-2 draw against Inter Kashi which virtually eliminated Kashi from the title race.

While Inter Kashi awaits the results of the AIFF ruling on the disputed game against Namdhari FC earlier in the season, Churchill Brothers SC has a singular goal: winning the league title. The Red Machine needs to secure either a win or a draw against Real Kashmir FC in their last game, and hope Gokulam Kerala FC and Inter Kashi FC lose their respective games.

Real Kashmir FC presents a tough challenge

The Goan club faces a stern test in matchweek 22 as they take on Real Kashmir FC, who sit third in the I-League standings. All the league leaders currently requires is just a draw or a win against Kashmir to clinch the title.

The club from Jammu and Kashmir has been impressive themselves this season having accumulated 36 points from 21 games. While the club will be at home at the TRC Turf Ground, they will be going for the win from the first whistle.

Can Churchill Brothers SC seal the deal?

The title race has dragged on to the final matchweek of the 2024-25 season which brings a whole lot of pressure on the Goan club to get the desired result. Having recorded two draws in their last two games, Churchill Brothers SC seem to know how to close games this season.

If the Goan club fails to win, they will be under threat from Gokulam Kerala FC, who will only have to win against Dempo SC. A loss greater than three goals against Real Kashmir FC would also see their match week 22 opponents stand a chance of winning the title contingent on Gokulam Kerala FC losing against Dempo.

With the title race boiling down to the final match week, the pressure will be real for all the clubs involved as they battle it out to be crowned I-League champions.
