IFL 2025-26: Updated points table, most goals after Shillong Lajong vs Chanmari FC

Meghalaya outfit keeps their title hopes alive with a big win over ten-man Chanmari in the Northeast derby

The second matchday of the second matchweek of the IFL Championship stage took us to the Scotland of the East, where the home team, Shillong Lajong, locked horns with Chanmari FC.

After a frustrating draw against Dempo, it was a must-win game for Shillong, and they did clinch a big win over Chanmari FC in the Northeastern derby. After Joel’s sending off, Chanmari were reduced to ten men and played the remaining three quarters with a man down.

The Meghalaya outfit left no stone unturned and went on to score four against Chanmari. Phrangki Buam broke the deadlock, scoring his fifth goal of the season. A valiant effort from Shillong saw them score three goals in 17 minutes, registering a big 4-0 win over Chanmari.

Let’s take a closer look at how the IFL points table has changed after this game and find out how tonight’s results will impact the championship prospects of different teams.

A brief look at the IFL 2025-26 points table

IFL Points Table

With this win, Shillong’s title hopes are alive, and they are now four points behind the table toppers, Diamond Harbour. This win has given them a massive boost, and they will be hoping to see the Kolkata outfit drop points in the upcoming games to keep the title race even more interesting.

For Chanmari, they are already out of contention for the title race, and after two successive defeats, they now languish at the bottom of the IFL table. Despite Diamond Harbour’s indomitable lead atop, other teams still have a chance, and it won’t be a cakewalk for the Kolkata outfit.

Players with the most goals after matchday 7 of IFL 2025-26

  • Marcus Joseph jr (Dempo) – 7 goals
  • Antonio Moyano (Diamond Harbour) – 5 goals
  • Phrangki Buam (Shillong Lajong) – 5 goals
  • Everbrightson Sana (Shillong Lajong) – 5 goals
  • Amadou Soukouna (Rajasthan FC) – 4 goals

What to expect from the next matches of IFL 2025-26

Tomorrow we have a game that could go on to determine the trajectory and the fate of the league as Diamond Harbour are set to lock horns with Sreenidhi Deccan. Shillong and Sreenidhi are still mathematically alive, and to cherish their title hopes, the Deccan outfit must defeat Diamond Harbour tomorrow.

So, hold your breath and keep a calculator beside you as things are becoming pretty interesting with every matchday. Every goal, every save, every single point counts and with such fine margins, you blink, and you are out of the title race.
