India will play all their AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers matches in Myanmar

After the Indian Women’s Senior team made history by qualifying for the AFC Asian Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia, all eyes will now be on the India U20 women’s team to carry on the legacy and book their spot in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026

India have been placed in Group D in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers alongside Myanmar, Indonesia and Turkmenistan. India is one of the top-ranked teams in the group, where Myanmar enter these qualifiers as the host.

In this feature, we shall take a close look at all three opponents of India’s U20 side and find out if they have a chance to finish as the group toppers or the three best second-ranked teams in the qualifiers.

Host Myanmar will have home advantage

Myanmar have previously made it to the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup four times so far. Despite failing to qualify for the last edition in Uzbekistan, Myanmar are in steady form. They have recently improved their youth infrastructure and will offer a strong challenge to India.

Myanmar last played in the 2019 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Thailand. They were placed in a strong group alongside Japan, South Korea and China. They lost every single game in the last campaign. But after six years, Myanmar will now hope to get back to the continental spotlight.

Turkmenistan will play their maiden AFC U20 Women’s Qualifier

Turkmenistan’s women’s team is not even a decade old. The upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifier will be their first-ever campaign in the AFC Qualifiers.

Despite their under-20 women’s team lacking experience, they can still emerge as the dark horses. Their women’s team played their first game, just five years ago, back in 2019 and suffered heavy defeats in the Turkish Women’s Cup and other friendly games.

India thrashed Indonesia 6-0 in the last qualifier

Indonesia narrowly missed out on the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2024 after an inspiring campaign. They were placed alongside teams like India, Vietnam and Singapore

After succumbing to defeats against Vietnam and India, Indonesia thrashed Singapore 4-0 to secure their only win in the campaign. They finished third in the points table after settling for just a solitary win. A revenge against the young tigress will be on cards for Indonesia as they seek to avenge their 6-0 defeat.

Can young Tigresses make history?

The India U20 women’s team last qualified in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup back in 2006. In the last edition, they came agonisingly close to making it to the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup but were eliminated despite being level on points with table toppers Vietnam.

This is a golden opportunity for the Blue Tigress to make history and qualify for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup and carry forward the legacy of the senior women’s team.

When did India last qualify for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup?

India last qualified for the tournament in 2006.

Which teams are in India’s group for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers?

India are grouped with Myanmar, Indonesia, and Turkmenistan in Group D.
