Early goals are rare in football, but the previous season of ISL had a few of them.

The 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) was full of entertainment and kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Apart from highly-competitive matches and a bucket full of goals, the campaign also saw plenty of early goals that took fans’ breath away.

Early goals are a rare occurrence in football due to the nature of the game. Both teams are usually cautious in the early parts and start proceedings with a safe approach.

An early goal in the first few minutes goes a long way in allowing the scoring team to dominate and grab a stranglehold on the match, but sometimes it also leaves room for the opposition to equalize.

Similar instances of early goals were observed in the past season of the ISL. Keeping the focus on the season that went by, here is a look at the top five fastest goals in ISL 2023-24:

5. Vikram Partap Singh – 2:01 minutes

Vikram Partap Singh won the 2023-24 ISL Emerging Player of the League award thanks to sensational performances for Mumbai City FC.

He scored eight goals in the campaign and one of them was registered within 121 seconds after kickoff against NorthEast United. The striker also scored in the 10th and the 80th minute of the game to complete his first ISL hat trick.

4. Shivaldo Singh – 1:31 minutes

Bengaluru FC’s young midfielder Shivaldo Singh gave the outfit a fabulous start in their contest against FC Goa, scoring inside two minutes of the game.

However, despite a fabulous start, the Blues fell to the Gaurs by a 2-1 scoreline. Despite the loss, Singh’s early goal gave BFC fans something to celebrate.

3. Daniel Chima Chukwu – 1:22 minutes

Hyderabad FC had a horrible 2023-24 Indian Super League season due to financial issues which saw notable individuals, domestic and foreign, leave the club midway through the term.

Adding to the troubles, their fixture against Jamshedpur FC got off to a terrible start when Daniel Chima Chukwu scored 1 minute and 22 seconds into the game. The match ended 5-0 in favour of the Men of Steel.

2. Rahim Ali – 54 seconds

Chennaiyin FC’s Rahim Ali scored within 54 seconds against Kerala Blasters in front of home supporters, giving his side a huge advantage in the match.

Despite the Indian striker giving the Marina Machans an early lead, the match ended in a draw. The roller-coaster of a match ended 3-3 in the end, giving fans plenty of memorable moments to take away.

1. PV Vishnu – 32 seconds

East Bengal’s P.V. Vishnu gave the side a fabulous start in their Indian Super League clash against Odisha FC. It took 32 seconds for him to find the back of the net and register his first ISL goal, which eventually became the fastest goal to be scored in the 2023-24 league campaign.

Unfortunately for the Kerala-born winger, the Red and Gold lost the game by a 2-1 scoreline, despite going into an extremely early lead.
