ISL 2025-26: Sporting Club Delhi sign Ghana duo Abdul-Halik Hudu & Ebenezer Amoh from Rajasthan United

The Phoenix part ways with last season’s standout foreigner, Andrei Alba.

New Delhi finally has a team to call its own in the Indian Super League. After Hyderabad FC’s relocation under new ownership, Sporting Club Delhi have wasted little time strengthening their squad for the ISL 2025–26 season.

Following the earlier signings of twins Mohammed Aimen and Mohammed Azhar from Kerala Blasters, Sporting Club Delhi have now completed a double foreign signing. The club has signed Ghanaian midfielders Abdul-Halik Hudu and Ebenezer Amoh from Rajasthan United, adding energy and depth to their midfield. The transfers are however, subjected to medical.

At the same time, the club has mutually parted ways with Andrei Alba, who was one of their standout performers last season. Alba has since moved to Indonesia, becoming the latest ISL foreigner to head to Southeast Asia.

With Hudu and Amoh coming in, Sporting Club Delhi’s foreign contingent now includes Brazilian defender Rafael Ribeiro and recently signed striker Matija Babović, giving head coach Tomasz Tchórz four foreign options to work with as he shapes a balanced squad for the new season.

Abdul-Halik Hudu brings legs and intensity to midfield

The 25-year-old Abdul-Halik Hudu, popularly known as Rooney, joined Rajasthan United ahead of the Super Cup 2025 after a stint with Jordanian giants Al-Wehdat. During the tournament in Goa, he featured against ISL sides such as Mumbai City FC, Kerala Blasters FC, and Sporting Club Delhi, giving him early exposure to the league’s demands.

In the Indian Super League (ISL), the battle is often won in midfield. Clubs are increasingly moving away from static playmakers and looking for “engines”—players who can run for 90 minutes, break up play, and transition the ball effectively. Abdul-Halik Hudu, who is a former Ghana U-17 and U-20 international, fits this description perfectly.

A product of the Ghanaian system, Hudu refined his game in the tactical leagues of Sweden and Denmark and is a dynamic central midfielder.

Having spent his formative years at Hammarby IF and gaining regular minutes with GIF Sundsvall and Lyngby, he brings a blend of African athleticism and Scandinavian tactical discipline.

During his time in Sweden, he achieved a major milestone by winning the Swedish Cup. He is not a veteran looking for a payday, but a player in his absolute physical prime.

Hudu has further continental experience, having appeared in the AFC Champions League Two. He is best described as a tireless #8 (Box-to-Box Midfielder), though he is equally comfortable sitting deep as a #6.

Ebenezer Amoh adds dynamism

Hudu will be joined in Delhi by his compatriot Ebenezer Amoh, a 21-year-old midfielder who also arrived at Rajasthan United before the Super Cup 2025. Amoh featured in all three of Rajasthan United’s matches in the tournament and quietly impressed with his discipline and decision-making.

Before moving to India, Amoh won the Most Valuable Player award in Ghana’s Division One league with Swedru All Blacks, underlining his potential at a young age.

The biggest green flag for scouts evaluating Amoh, who can play as a central or attacking midfielder, is his composure. Many young players crumble when facing ISL teams with superior foreign contingents. Amoh, however, was part of a midfield unit that kept a clean sheet against Mumbai City. That result alone speaks volumes about his tactical maturity and ability to follow a game plan under pressure.

Sporting Club Delhi will begin their ISL 2025–26 campaign away from home, taking on Bengaluru FC in Bengaluru on 15 February 2025. With new signings settling in and a clearer squad structure emerging, Tomasz Tchórz will hope this mix of youth, energy, and experience can help Delhi make a steady start to life in the top tier.
