NorthEast United FC look to register their first win of this season

The 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season is finally up and running. We have had an entertaining round of fixtures in Matchweek 1 with Mohun Bagan SG, Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC, East Bengal and Mumbai City FC securing a win each.

Now the focus shifts to the second matchweek where NorthEast United will travel to Silicon Valley of India to face off against Bengaluru FC.

The Highlanders were on the receiving end of a humiliating 3-0 defeat to their archrivals East Bengal in their curtain raiser.

Meanwhile, the Blues pulled off a comfortable 2-0 win over Sporting Club Delhi to start their campaign with a bang. NorthEast United will be poised to get back to winning ways while Bengaluru FC will look to continue their dominance at home.

The fixture involving these two teams has always been regarded as one of the most nail biting encounters of the ISL. Bengaluru FC have maintained their dominance over the years while the Highlanders have troubled them on a couple of occasions.

The Blues have never lost a home game against the Highlanders and will aim to maintain the same when they take to the pitch on Sunday.

Bengaluru FC have nine wins to show for their efforts in 17 meetings with the Highlanders while NorthEast United have two. Both of the Highlanders’ wins have come in Guwahati with their last victory dating back to 2022.

Renedy Singh’s outfit pulled off a 0-2 win away from home the last time these two teams came across each other with Ryan Williams and Alberto Noguera finding the back of the net.

Seven draws have been played between both the teams out of which three draws have come in just the last four outings. This fixture averages 2.5 goals per game as 46 goals have been scored by both the teams in 18 outings.
