Jamshedpur are winless in their last four ISL games

God’s Own Country is all set to host Jamshedpur FC, who are travelling over a thousand kilometres, all away from the East of India to the southernmost state of India for a crucial match.

Jamshedpur FC are winless in their last four games but have shown massive character after scoring the equalizer in the last ten minutes in their last three consecutive fixtures against tough teams like Mohun Bagan SG, Mumbai City and SC Delhi.

They have kept their title hopes alive and are a win away from topping the ISL points table.

Talking about their opponents Kerala, they are already coming after a win over Bengaluru FC recently in Kanteerva. Ashley Westwood is back in the Indian top flight and would be raring to go all guns blazing against the Red Miners to clinch his first home win.

Ahead of the big game against Kerala, Jamshedpur FC assistant coach Sandy Stewart, alongside Nikhil Barla, briefed the media about their team’s preparations and how they plan to get the better of Kerala.

The Scottish gaffer, who has wide experience coaching top-tier teams in Europe, feels that it is never easy to win every game.

Jamshedpur are winless in their last four games after conceding defeat to the Highlanders and drawing games against Mumbai, Mohun Bagan SG and Delhi recently

Stewart said, “We started with four wins and then faced good teams in the last few matches. Our mindset is simple. We go out to win every game. We know it will be difficult, but that’s our target. We believe if we achieve that, we’ll be right at the top.”

Jamshedpur have been conceding goals first, and this has been a problem. From Mohun Bagan SG, East Bengal, Delhi, NorthEast and Mumbai, the problem continues.

Stewart sounded optimistic, saying it is never easy to show character and score in the last few minutes to steal something.

Stewart said, “I think any team that scores first has the advantage. Of course, we would prefer to lead. But it shows fantastic character from the team to come back into games. It also reflects our fitness levels and mentality. If you’re going to get something from the game, scoring late shows belief.”

Red Miners to face two teams from lower half of ISL table

The next two games would be crucial for Jamshedpur as they dropped a lot of points in the last four games. They will face Kerala next before hosting Owen’s previous club, Chennai, in Jamshedpur.

Both teams have struggled to do well and have been at the lower echelon of the ISL table.

Stewart said, “Not at all. Teams in the lower half are still dangerous. Kerala have a new coach and is coming off a win, so they’ll be confident. We treat every opponent with the same respect. There are no easy games in this league.”
