Mohammedan SC, FC Goa eye first win in ISL 2025-26

An All-Indian Mohammedan SC team will welcome FC Goa on Friday.

The 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season is underway as the two Kolkata giants, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, are leading the way in the points table. Both sides look fairly balanced and are contenders for the title.

On Friday, the third Kolkata-based club, Mohammedan SC, will play their first home fixture as they look to pick up three important points against FC Goa. Seeking an ideal start, can the Black Panthers surprise the Gaurs?

Preview

Mohammedan SC

hammedan SC

Mehrajuddin Wadoo’s side lost 1-0 to Jamshedpur FC in the opening game. While the Panthers put up a resolute performance, they failed to take a single shot on goal. Mohammedan Sporting Club did not win a single home game last season, picking up just 2 wins in 24 games. A similar performance will lead to relegation this season, something that they should already be wary of, going into the game against Goa.

FC Goa

The Gaurs drew 1-1 with Inter Kashi in their first league game last Saturday. The Yoddhas put up a gritty performance, however, a blunder by their goalkeeper gifted a penalty to Dejan Drazic, who slotted it home and rescued a point for the Gaurs. Given that this is a short season, Goa cannot afford to drop more points this early in the campaign if they want to stay in contention for the title.

Injury Concerns and Team News

There are no major injury concerns in the FC Goa and the Mohammedan SC squads ahead of their ISL 2025-26 match.

Playing in the heart of Mohammedan’s midfield, Amarjit Singh will have his work cut out against an attacking FC Goa side. The central defensive midfielder made 6 recoveries and 7 clearances against Jamshedpur FC and will be heavily involved once again on Friday.
