ISL 2025-26: Aimen, Planas lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 7

Mumbai City are the only undefeated team in ISL 2025-26 table.
After a 10-day hiatus for the 2026 March international window, the Indian Super League (ISL) clubs returned to action in match week 7 of the 2025/26 season. Goa lost their unbeaten streak; however, Mumbai City maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a victory and a draw.
Punjab FC kicked off the week with a 2-1 comeback victory over Mohammedan SC, while title challengers Jamshedpur FC and Mohun Bagan SG drew 1-1. Bengaluru FC halted FC Goa’s undefeated streak with a victory at the Fatorda in the week’s third game.
At the same time, Ashley Westwood’s return to India resulted in a disappointing 2-0 loss for the Blasters against SC Delhi.
Mumbai City defeated TG Purushothaman’s Odisha FC by a scoreline of 1-0, despite several chances throughout the game. Inter Kashi overturned their three-game losing record with a win against Chennaiyin in the second but last game of the week, while Mumbai City and Jamshedpur played an exciting draw in the final game.
After seven match weeks of the 13-game season, Mumbai City leads the 2025/26 ISL standings with 18 points from eight games. Mohammedan SC is at the bottom of the standings, with six defeats in six games, while Kerala Blasters is just above the relegation zone with one point from seven games.
From Sporting Club’s historic first ISL victory to comeback victories and last-minute dramas, the match week was filled with entertainment, with several Indian players stepping up with amazing performances.
Here are 11 players that grabbed our interest and made it into our ISL 2025-26 squad of the week for MW 7.
Formation (4-2-3-1)
GK: Amrinder Singh

While Mumbai City FC won all three points against Odisha FC at the Mumbai Football Arena, they only scored once in 19 attempts. Amrinder Singh in the opposing goal was instrumental in maintaining the score at 1-0 and keeping Odisha in the game throughout the game.
Amrinder was called into action on several occasions, as the Mumbai attackers constantly threatened his goal with strikes from long ranges and crosses from tight angles.
The Odisha FC goalkeeper produced multiple impressive stops, particularly against Jorge Ortiz.
LB: Roshan Singh

Coming up against FC Goa’s potent right flank, Roshan Singh did an excellent job of keeping Rabeeh and Boris Singh silent throughout the match.
He won four of his five tackles and eight duels in the sixty minutes he was on the field. With important interceptions and blocks, he stopped threatening crosses from entering the box from his side.
CB: Narendar Gahlot

Despite having options on the bench, Habas fielded an all-Indian backline against Chennaiyin FC, with Narender leading the side. The former Odisha FC defender was at his very best against the Marina Machans, outmuscling Inigo Martin, Irfan Yadwad, and Daniel Chima with his physical strength and proactive defending.
Narender won all of his duels and tackles, while making seven clearances and four interceptions. He was unlucky not to have a clean sheet due to Chima’s late goal.
CB: Nuno Reis

Playing two games in four days, all Mumbai City needed to do was ensure defensive stability to avoid dropping points and finish with at least a draw, if not a victory.
Reis and his teammates did the same in defence.
While Reis had a relatively easy task at the back against Odisha, the Portuguese defender was called into action many times against Owen Coyle’s Jamshedpur FC. Reis produced a handful of critical last-line clearances while totalling 12 clearances against the Red Miners, showing a strong defensive shift.
RB: Lamgoulen Hangshing

After moving up from the I-League (now the IFL) to the ISL, Len Gogou continues to amaze with his performances each passing match week.
The Sporting Club skipper delivered yet another outstanding effort against Kerala Blasters, securing the club’s first ISL triumph.
Defensively, he kept Yoke quiet for the majority of the game with tackles and important interceptions. Moving forward, he created a couple key opportunities, notably assisting Aimen’s goal with a superb calm and composed play inside the opposing box.

CM: Ricky Shabong

With 90% passing accuracy and nine successful long balls out of ten attempts, it is safe to say that young Ricky put on a show in the midfield for the Shers versus Mohammedan SC.
Ricky was a destroyer in the middle as Zeljković and Dani Ramirez pushed further forward in attack.
He maintained superb ball control with his passing while frequently switching flanks with precise long balls to open up space for his wingers. Defensively, he made seven recoveries in the center of the park and won five duels.
CM: Nikola Stojanović

While Jamshedpur FC and Owen Coyle look for someone to create opportunities in the attack in Madih Talal’s absence, Nikola Stojanovic has flourished both defensively and offensively.
Nikola’s delivery from set-pieces and crosses was threatening in each of both games, with six key chances created and an assist from a corner versus Mumbai City.
He has also been excellent defensively, winning vital duels and making crucial interceptions to regain possession.
LW: Liston Colaco

How can we leave Liston out of ISL TOTW for MW-7 after his incredible long-range goal against Jamshedpur FC? The Indian winger appears to be playing with a lot of confidence on the field, as flashes of old Liston Golazo begin to appear.
His curling effort from almost 30 yards almost sealed a win for the Mariners, but Ritwik equalized late. Liston was a constant menace to the Jamshedpur defense with his excellent runs, shoots, and dangerous crosses.
He took three shots, all of which were on target, and combined expertly with Subhashish on the left side.
CAM: Alfred Plannas

In a game where the other team had the majority of possession, Alfred Planas found it difficult to get time on the ball and create opportunities for his team from the middle of the park.
However, the Spanish attacker was outstanding for his team in quick transitions with his movement around the edge of the box.
Planas came close to scoring in the first half, but his attempt from the edge of the box went off target. However, he returned with his scoring boots in the second half, striking two goals in short succession to secure a much-needed victory for Habas’ team.
With this brace, Alfred has now score four goals in the 2025/26 ISL season.
RW: Mohammed Aimen

Coming up against a previous club that developed and nurtured you is usually an emotional experience for a player. However, Aimen was able to put his emotions aside on the pitch and deliver an outstanding performance that earned his team all three points against the Blasters.
Aimen opened the score with a poacher finish in the first half. He was constantly troubling the Blasters’ defenders with movement inside the box, as well as flicks and dribbles to go around them.
Aside from the goal, he additionally created some good chances for his teammates.
ST: Nsungusi Effiong

Many international strikers, notably Jamie Maclaren and Dejan Drazic, struggled to impress this week. Nsungusi, on the other hand, was important in Panagiotis Dilmperis’ side’s remarkable comeback victory over Mohammedan SC.
Despite squandering three big chances and hitting the crossbar once, Nsungusi put the Shers back in the game with a fantastic left-footed shot.
The combination play of Osuji, Ramirez, and Nsungusi has been particularly excellent this ISL season, and it is likely to deliver more goals if the latter becomes more lethal in front of goal.
Who is the top scorer of the ISL 2025-26 season so far?
Youssef Ezzejjari and Jamie Maclaren are on level with seven goals after MW-7 of 2025/26 ISL season.
