Both the teams have faced each other 22 times so far

The Indian Super League (ISL) will get to watch another chapter in one of its most interesting rivalries as FC Goa host Bengaluru FC at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Friday, November 06th 2026. With the kick-off being scheduled for 7:30 PM IST, the fixture brings together two sides with entirely different starts to the 2026-27 campaign but have a shared history of producing memorable games.

Bengaluru FC arrive unbeaten after winning two of their opening three matches, while the Gaurs have got one victory and two draws. Although the Blues have enjoyed the better start, FC Goa will be hoping to use their home advantage to challenge a side that has often proved difficult to fight against.

FC Goa have begun their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC before sharing the points with Sporting Club Delhi in another 1-1 encounter. Their most recent outing saw them register a 2-1 victory over Inter Kashi, giving them their first win of the season.

The Gaurs have shown signs of consistency, particularly in their ability to avoid defeats, but will be looking to improve their attacking output and turn more of their opportunities into goals. Goa will need greater efficiency in both boxes as they prepare to face one of the stronger attacking sides in the competition.

Bengaluru FC, meanwhile, have collected seven points from a 3-2 victory over Sporting Club Delhi and securing a 2-0 win against Chennaiyin FC. Their winning run came to an end against NorthEast United FC, where they were held to a 1-1 draw.

With six goals scored and three conceded, Bengaluru have demonstrated a greater attacking output than their upcoming opponents. While their latest draw exposed some areas that could be improved, their overall start suggests a side capable of controlling games and creating opportunities consistently

The rivalry between FC Goa and Bengaluru FC has developed into one of the intense matches in Indian football. Across their 20 meetings in the ISL, Bengaluru FC have got nine victories, while FC Goa have won six, with five encounters ending in draws. The numbers suggest a close contest, but the story behind those results is what defines the rivalry.

The rivalry began in the 2017-18 ISL season, with the two sides immediately producing a seven-goal thriller at Fatorda. FC Goa emerged 4-3 winners in that game. Ferran Corominas scored a hat-trick for the Gaurs, while Bengaluru FC had to play with ten men after goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was sent off in the first half.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Bengaluru continued to fight, with Miku and Erik Paartalu finding the net. It was an early indication of the competitive nature of this fixture. One of the defining chapter of this rivalry came during the 2018-19 ISL final. The final remained goalless after 90 minutes, with neither side willing to give the other an opening.

The contest eventually went into extra time, where Bengaluru FC found their breakthrough in the 117th minute. Rahul Bheke rose to meet Dimas Delgadoโ€™s corner and headed the ball into the net, handing Bengaluru FC their maiden ISL title. For the Blues, it was a historic night. For FC Goa, it was another painful near-miss in their pursuit of the championship. The result added another layer to an already growing rivalry.

Bengaluru FC responded in the following seasons, establishing themselves as a difficult opponent for the Gaurs. Their 3-0 victory over Goa in February 2019 was particularly significant, with the Blues producing a commanding performance despite being reduced to ten men following Nishu Kumarโ€™s dismissal. The result further strengthened Bengaluruโ€™s position in the title race that season.

The subsequent encounters continued to produce contrasting results. FC Goa secured a memorable 2-2 draw against Bengaluru in November 2020 after trailing by two goals. Igor Angulo scored twice in quick succession to bring the Gaurs back into the contest, demonstrating their ability to fight their way out of difficult situations.

Goa also registered important victories in the 2021-22 season, including a 2-1 win despite being reduced to ten men following Jorge Ortizโ€™s dismissal. Bengaluru, meanwhile, continued to enjoy success in the fixture, recording victories in November 2022 and February 2023.

The balance shifted again in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns, with Goa enjoying a stronger run of results. A 3-0 victory in November 2024 was among their most convincing performances against the Blues in recent years.

The two sides also met in the 2024-25 ISL semi-finals, adding another high-stakes chapter to their history. Bengaluru FC secured a 2-0 victory in the first leg at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. FC Goa responded with a 2-1 win in the return leg at Fatorda, but the Blues progressed to the final with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Their most recent league meeting, in April 2026, saw Bengaluru FC register a 2-0 victory at Fatorda. The result was another reminder that the Blues remain a difficult opponent for Goa, even on their home turf.

Bengaluru FC will enter Fridayโ€™s contest with the advantage of a stronger start to the campaign and a narrow lead in the overall head-to-head record. However, FC Goa will be determined to use their home advantage and recent victory against Inter Kashi to challenge the Blues. With both teams looking to strengthen their position in the league, another competitive evening awaits at Fatorda.
