The Stakes
SC Delhi
SC Delhi lost the opening game of the 2026-27 ISL season, 3-2 to Bengaluru FC.SC Delhi showcased admirable grit in taking the fight to Bengaluru FC in their 2026-27 ISL opener, but were unfortunate to lose the match even after taking a lead in the first half. For Tomasz Tchorz, it’s a case of trying to make a few tactical tweaks to his system in order to get his players firing on all cylinders.
He needs to work really hard on strengthening the defensive sturdiness of his side, making his players work harder to keep a stronger shape at the back, and not being so open to allowing easy chances to be created against them.
He’ll also look to motivate his players to keep being proactive and innovative in their attacking transitions, being smart with their final product to surprise Mohun Bagan. A possible win for SC Delhi against the Mariners will validate them as a major threat to look out for this season, but another crushing loss would be extremely demotivating for the players.
Mohun Bagan
Mohun Bagan conceded a 90+1st minute goal to lost to the Highlanders.Mohun Bagan suffered a disappointing start to their 2026-27 ISL campaign, conceding a last-minute goal to go down to a 1-0 defeat to NorthEast United. A lot of things went wrong for the Mariners in the clash, as they struggled to score goals or be that much of a thorn in the frontline.
Panagiotis Dilmperis is a man under pressure and will need to work hard to get his players revved up and motivated to win this upcoming clash.
He’ll need to get them to be much sharper in attack, being more unpredictable in creating chances and finishing them off in a more efficient fashion than they have in recent matches. He’ll need to hold together a compact shape to frustrate the hosts and be able to sail their way to a win.
A big win for Mohun Bagan will be a much-needed confidence booster for the Mariners, but dropping points again will keep sparking more criticism for Panagiotis and the players.
Team News
SC Delhi should have the same squad they did in their ISL opener against Bengaluru FC.
Jamie Maclaren remains the major injury absentee for Mohun Bagan after sustaining a hamstring injury recently.
