SC Delhi vs Mohun Bagan Preview: Predicted Lineups, Team News | ISL 2026-27

The Capital Club are set to welcome the Kolkata outfit

SC Delhi are poised to play their first home match of the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season, when it hosts a shaken Mohun Bagan side at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi, on Friday (16 October, 2026).

With both sides having suffered disappointing narrow losses in their opening matches, there will be a sense of urgency and hunger for them to oust each other to get three points to kick off their season in the right way.

The Stakes

SC Delhi

Bengaluru FC vs SC Delhi Player Ratings: Borja Martínez, Ryan Williams shine in ISL 2026-27 opener
SC Delhi lost the opening game of the 2026-27 ISL season, 3-2 to Bengaluru FC.

SC Delhi showcased admirable grit in taking the fight to Bengaluru FC in their 2026-27 ISL opener, but were unfortunate to lose the match even after taking a lead in the first half. For Tomasz Tchorz, it’s a case of trying to make a few tactical tweaks to his system in order to get his players firing on all cylinders.

He needs to work really hard on strengthening the defensive sturdiness of his side, making his players work harder to keep a stronger shape at the back, and not being so open to allowing easy chances to be created against them.

He’ll also look to motivate his players to keep being proactive and innovative in their attacking transitions, being smart with their final product to surprise Mohun Bagan. A possible win for SC Delhi against the Mariners will validate them as a major threat to look out for this season, but another crushing loss would be extremely demotivating for the players.

Mohun Bagan

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet, Nikhil shine as Pramveer disappoints
Mohun Bagan conceded a 90+1st minute goal to lost to the Highlanders.

Mohun Bagan suffered a disappointing start to their 2026-27 ISL campaign, conceding a last-minute goal to go down to a 1-0 defeat to NorthEast United. A lot of things went wrong for the Mariners in the clash, as they struggled to score goals or be that much of a thorn in the frontline.

Panagiotis Dilmperis is a man under pressure and will need to work hard to get his players revved up and motivated to win this upcoming clash.

He’ll need to get them to be much sharper in attack, being more unpredictable in creating chances and finishing them off in a more efficient fashion than they have in recent matches. He’ll need to hold together a compact shape to frustrate the hosts and be able to sail their way to a win.

A big win for Mohun Bagan will be a much-needed confidence booster for the Mariners, but dropping points again will keep sparking more criticism for Panagiotis and the players.

Team News

SC Delhi should have the same squad they did in their ISL opener against Bengaluru FC.

Jamie Maclaren remains the major injury absentee for Mohun Bagan after sustaining a hamstring injury recently.

Predicted Lineups

SC Delhi (4-3-3)

Nora Fernandes (GK), Langoulem Hangshing, Nduka Junior, Duvan Viafara, Manoj Mohammad, Yanglem Singh, Lalrinliana Hnamte, Mohammed Azhar, Juan Pena, Mohammed Aimen, Rodriguinho

Mohun Bagan (4-2-3-1)

Vishal Kaith (GK), Abhishek Singh, Rahul Bheke, Alberto Rodriguez, Subhasish Bose, Lalengmawia Ralte, Anirudh Thapa, Miguel Figueira, Manvir Singh, Dejan Drazic, Lee Erwin

Players to Watchout

Juan Pena (SC Delhi)

Juan Pena made his debut in the ISL for SC Delhi against Bengaluru FC.

Juan Pena had a pretty promising debut in the 2026-27 ISL opener against Bengaluru FC, being an unpredictable threat in the final third for his side. In his first ISL game the Colombian was pretty good with his duel-winning heroics.

Now, the 27-year-old Colombian forward will be looking to be a thorn for Mohun Bagan in his home debut for SC Delhi. Pena is going to aim to be a menace with his clever running in the final third, as well as tricking the defenders with his off-the-ball runs as well.

However, the SC Delhi players will definitely need Pena to be precise with his final-third passes to be able to create big chances for them. He’ll also need to be much more proactive in the final third to be able to get into promising goal-scoring areas and finish off chances clinically to raise SC Delhi’s overall goal threat against Mohun Bagan.

Dejan Drazic (Mohun Bagan)

ISL 2026-27: Top five confirmed transfers so far
Dejan Drazic continued to play in the match against NorthEast United despite sustaining a head injury.

Dejan Drazic displayed admirable courage in his performance against NorthEast United, playing with a protective headband after suffering a head injury in the IFA Shield final. However, after coming up short in the final third with no goal involvement, Drazic is eager to make an impact in the upcoming clash against SC Delhi.

He’ll look to be much more unpredictable with his movement in the danger areas, making clever forward runs into the final third and getting into more goal-scoring areas.

Drazic, of course, needs to start firing and be much more efficient in his final third – be it sending in more inviting crosses into the middle for his teammates to latch onto or finishing off chances effectively. He’ll look to bolster his confidence levels with a clinical display against SC Delhi to not only hand Mohun Bagan their first win of the campaign, but also strengthen his stronghold on a starting role.

  • Lalrinliana Hnamte recorded his first assist in his debut for SC Delhi, and it was also only his second-ever assist in the ISL.

  • The opening game loss to NorthEast United was only the second time Mohun Bagan have lost their first match in an ISL season.
