Gouramangi Singh replaces Manolo Marquez as head coach at FC Goa
FC Goa have officially announced the appointment of Gouramangi Singh as the head coach of the club ahead of the 2026-27 season, taking the charge of the club from Spanish tactician Manolo Marquez who has now joined Mumbai City FC.
The 40-year-old Manipur born Gouramangi Singh joined the Gaursโ coaching setup in 2022, July as an assistant coach and has now earned a promotion to the head coach spot after serving the club for almost 4 years.
Gouramangi Singh was an important part of former head coach Manolo Marquezโs coaching staff and even led the team during the absence of the head coach due to his national duties.
Gouramangi Singh shared his excitement on his new chapter with the Gaurs.

A familiar face with a new challenge
Gouramangi Singh is no stranger in Indian football whether it was a player or now as a coach. He is an experienced face who joined FC Goa back in 2022 and since then has been working with the team as an assistant coach and even leading the youth teams at multiple occasions.
Gouramangi, who has been part of FC Goa for 4 years under different managers, has served 87 games under Manolo Marquez, 23 games under Carlos Pena and 4 games under Deggie Cardozo as an assistant coach. Having a thorough understanding of the club and its inner workings, he can be a highly influential figure as he leads the team as head coach heading into the 2026โ27 season.
Gouramangi Singh was also the head coach of Bengaluru United in 2019 leading them in Bangalore Super Division League, later becoming the assistant coach under Richard Hood at Bengaluru United and almost served the club for a span of 3 years before joining FC Goa in 2022.

The coaching staff under Gouramangi Singh for 2026-27 season
The Gaurs have also announced the arrival of the coaching staff under head coach Gouramangi Singh ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Shameel Chembakath has been appointed as the assistant coach to Gouramangi Singh for the 2026-27 season. Shameel joins the Gaurs after having experience of serving for multiple ISL clubs like Kerala Blasters and Hyderabad FC. He most recently worked as the head coach of Reliance Foundation Young Champs U-19 before joining the Gaurs.
Along with Shameel, Chelston Pinto joins the coaching staff as the strength and conditioning coach meanwhile, Sugitesh Mandrekar will be the goalkeeping coach of FC Goa for 2026-27 season.
The challenge ahead for Gouramangi Singh
Gouramangi Singhโs first big challenge will be the game of ACL 2 Preliminary Stage on 12th August which will decide where the Gaurs will play at the continental level for the 2026-27 season.
FC Goa under the leadership of Gouramangi Singh will be facing a tough opponent in the form of the Turkmenistan champions FK Arkadag, away from home in the ACL 2 Preliminary Stage match.
FK Arkadag competes in Turkmenistanโs top-tier league and are the reigning champions. Arkadag won the inaugural AFC Challenge League in 2025 and also qualified for the ACL Two knockout stage last season, where they were eliminated by Cristiano Ronaldoโs Al-Nassr.
This will be a tough test for Gouramangi Singh as it will be a new environment in Turkmenistan where they will have to face the champions of the league.
