ISL side NorthEast United FC announce signing of Pramveer Singh from Punjab FC

Pramveer Singh joins NorthEast United on a three-year contract
NorthEast United FC have continued to invest in the future by announcing the signing of Indian defender Pramveer on a three-year deal as exclusively revealed by Khel Now earlier, bringing one of the country’s brightest young prospects to Guwahati until the end of the 2028-29 season.
At just 19, Pramveer has already built an impressive resume. A record-breaking Indian Super League debut, success at youth level, appearances for the National team from the U17s to the U23s, and a senior national team call-up have all come before his arrival at NorthEast United FC.
Now, the Highlanders become the next chapter in a journey defined by steady progression and immense promise.
From Punjab FC to NorthEast United: A new journey begins

Pramveer joined Punjab FC’s academy in 2017 and rose through the ranks before making his mark in Indian football.
He played a key role in the club’s Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) title-winning campaign in 2024, featuring in every group-stage match and completing the full 90 minutes in both the semi-final and final.
His rapid development culminated in an Indian Super League debut during the 2025-26 season, where he became the youngest player ever to start an ISL match at just 17 years and 189 days. He would go on to make 10 league appearances and feature in Punjab FC’s Kalinga Super Cup campaign.
A future star of Indian football

Pramveer’s development has been equally impressive in the national colours. He made his India U17 debut at the age of 15 before representing the Blue Colts at the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2023, starting two group-stage matches against Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
His performances earned him a rapid promotion to the India U23 setup, where he became the youngest member of Naushad Moosa’s squad for the international friendlies against Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in 2025.
He marked his debut with a composed 90-minute display against Tajikistan before representing India in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers, further cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most promising young defenders.
His consistent performances and maturity beyond his years were recognised with his maiden senior India national team call-up for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers. The teenager was named in Khalid Jamil’s squad for India’s away fixture against Singapore, completing a remarkable rise from the youth ranks to the senior national team in just a few years.
Speaking after completing his move, Pramveer said: “I’m really excited to join NorthEast United FC and begin this new chapter in my career. The club has shown great ambition over the last few seasons, and I’m grateful for the confidence they’ve placed in me. I can’t wait to meet the Highlanders, wear the jersey and I’m looking forward to growing as a player and helping the team achieve its goals.”
Head coach Juan Pedro Benali added: “Pramveer is a player with tremendous potential and a warrior mentality. For someone so young, he already shows maturity and the courage to take responsibility in difficult moments. He has the hunger to improve and we believe this is the right environment for him to continue his development.”
Welcoming Pramveer to the club, CEO Mandar Tamhane said: “Pramveer is one of the finest young defenders in Indian football and someone we have been following closely. At such a young age, he has already achieved significant milestones at both club and international level, and we believe he has all the attributes to develop into a top defender. He is ambitious, hardworking and eager to improve, qualities that align perfectly with the culture we are building at NorthEast United FC. We are delighted to welcome him to the Highlanders.”
