Pavlos joins Punjab FC on a multi-year contract

The Indian Super League (ISL) side Punjab FC appoint Greek head coach Pavlos Dermitzakis ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 season. This appointment comes after the departure of their former head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis who joined Mohun Bagan SG after parting ways with the Shers.

Punjab FC have acquired the services of Pavlos Dermitzakis on a multi-year contract which will keep the Greek tactician at the club for the next coming seasons as the club aim to develop a new identity under a new head coach.

A package of experience

Pavlos is a manager who has had the experience of coaching for almost 25 years and holds a UEFA Pro License, the manager is a well-known figure in Greek football. The Greek tactician began his coaching stint in 2001 when he took over the charge at Ergotelis.

He later went on to manage various clubs like Atsalenios, Diagoras, Panthrakikos, powerhouse PAOK FC etc.

The Greek head coach is very well known to build teams which are not in a very good position. He has helped multiple clubs earn promotion throughout Greek football and develops team into a well organised and balanced units.

Pavlos’s current coaching stints at Iraklis and Panionios were also good as the head coach managed to get 76.47% and 60.87% win records respectively for the clubs.

His experience in coaching and developing young players can be very helpful for the Shers and this can contribute to the growth of Indian youngsters moving forward and contribute to the overall growth of Indian football.

Punjab FC’s moves so far in transfer market

Punjab FC have so far managed to make 2 signings in this transfer window as they have acquired the services of former Inter Kashi forward Alfred Planas Moya and former Real Kashmir midfielder Mohammad Inam. The club have extended the contracts of key players like Arshdeep Singh, Nikhil Prabhu and Lhungdim.

After the departure of their head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis and multiple key players like Dani Ramirez, Pramveer Singh and Samir Zeljkovic, the appointment of the Greek head coach Pavlos Dermitzakis indicates positive intent as now the Shers can make signings based on the manager’s preference and advice and help his gather a unit which performs well.

With the summer transfer window open, the Shers have an opportunity to improve key areas with the suitable signings which fits the coach’s tactics. Building a squad that suits Pavlos’ tactical play style can help Punjab FC perform well in the upcoming seasons and develop an identity under him.
