Three Mohun Bagan players who can benefit from Dejan Drazic's arrival

Former FC Goa forward will play a key part for the Mariners in the next season

Dejan Drazic is poised to strengthen the quality of Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s attacking front ahead of the start of their 2026-27 season. After coming up barely short in the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) title race, the Mariners have decided to give their squad a facelift by reorganizing their foreigner core and adding more freshness to their attacking front with the signing of an experienced attacker like Drazic.

The Serbian forward, of course, gained his fame in Indian football with his heroics for FC Goa! After arriving in India through the Gaurs in 2024, the 30-year-old went onto make 42 appearances for them and also score nine goals. Out of that, Drazic also managed nine goal contributions (six goals, three assists) in 12 ISL appearances last season – proving himself as one of the most versatile and efficient foreign attackers in the league next season.

Because of his versatility in being able to thrive to multiple roles, Drazic should be a key asset for the Mohun Bagan Super Giant side next season. His proactive nature and ability to pop up with key contributions out of nowhere should also end up having a beneficial impact on multiple Mohun Bagan players next season. Hence, here we look at the three Mohun Bagan Super Giant players to possibly benefit from Dejan Drazic’s arrival next season.

3. Sahal Abdul Samad

Sahal Abdul Samad had an interesting 2025-26 season for Mohun Bagan Super Giant, struggling to adapt in the first half – but producing some notable performance in the final stretch of the campaign. He remains a unique asset for the Mariners because of his hard-working nature, defensive attributes and element of surprise when it comes to the attack. Fortunately for the 29-year-old, he should be able to create a nice bond with the energetic Drazic and the two of them can actually combine nicely to bring a bit of zazz to Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s attack.

Drazic boasts impressive link-up play ability as well as a nice range of passing, which should allow him to link-up nicely with Samad to help create more attractive chances for Mohun Bagan Super Giant. Samad could also get more goal-scoring chances if able to form a nice understanding with the Serbian and compel him to find himself in key goal-scoring areas in the final third. Samad has played relatively well with Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s foreign players in the last few years, and the same should happen with him and Drazic as well.

2. Liston Colaco

Liston Colaco had a pretty underwhelming 2025-26 ISL campaign in which he was only able to score one goal in 13 matches, not being able to be as clinical in the frontline as fans had hoped him to be. Fortunately for the winger, he can now expect to get a bit more efficient support in the attacking areas through Dejan Drazic – who excels in the no.10 role for his side. Colaco would see some of the creative burden taken away from him by the Serbian star, who is able to create chances out of nowhere with his unpredictable final third passes.

That can allow Colaco to be a bit bolder with his forward movement in trying to get into the empty spaces inside the box. He will probably get more chances to test goalkeepers and take shots from more scorable positions, making him a bigger goal-scoring threat for the Mariners. Colaco just needs to work hard to create a solid understanding with Dejan, letting him know the kind of areas he’ll look to move through on to help the Mariners produce more exciting attacking football next season.

1. Jamie Maclaren

Even though Dejan Drazic is definitely being brought aboard to increase Mohun Bagan’s goal threat and help add more variety to their goal-scoring acumen, his arrival should definitely end up having a positive impact on Jamie Maclaren. Drazic was able to notch up three assists in the 2025-26 ISL campaign, creating 27 chances in the process as well. Be it playing as a winger or in the no.10 role, the Serbian star has that innovativeness in his arsenal to be able to create big chances out of nothing for his side. He has that element of surprise with his delivery into the final third and that should have a positive impact on Maclaren, who scored 10 goals in the ISL last season.

Maclaren can now expect to get more major chances to score in the final third, enhancing his ruthlessness for Mohun Bagan. Moreover, knowing how Drazic brings a major goal-scoring trait in him, the Australian forward can now potentially take risks in moving out of position to look to create more goals after managing zero assists in the 2025-26 ISL. Maclaren should end up benefiting from the Serbian forward’s arrival and Mohun Bagan fans can enjoy a ruthless partnership once these two players get into their rhythm.
