Three things East Bengal must improve to win remaining matches in 2025-26 ISL

The Red and Gold Brigade will face Odisha next in Goa
East Bengal suffered a blow to their 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) title aspirations after playing out a dramatic 3-3 draw against Bengaluru FC recently. That result has left them five points behind league leaders Mohun Bagan, with the Red & Gold Brigade having five more matches to play until the end of the campaign.
All that Oscar Bruzon’s side can now aspire for is to win all their remaining matches and end the season on a high note, irrespective of whatever happens with the title race. In their remaining five matches, the Red & Gold Brigade will face intense clashes against the likes of Mumbai City and Punjab FC – as well as the highly anticipated Kolkata Derby against Mohun Bagan on May 17.
There is no guarantee that even if they win their next five games that the Red & Gold Brigade will actually be able to win the title. However, they can at least provide some joy to their supporters and try to finish as high as possible at the end of the season.
To do so, although there are certain aspects of their game and system that Oscar Bruzon needs to improve for them to get back to firing on all cylinders. Here, we look at the three things East Bengal must improve to win their remaining 2025-26 ISL matches.
1. Ability to thrive under pressure

The thing about this East Bengal side under Oscar Bruzon is that they can be delightful to watch when things are going in their favour. Once the Kolkata side gains control of matches, they can be a nightmare to deal with and entertain their fans with thrilling attacking football. However, once things start going a bit astray and they come under pressure, the players tend to start crumbling. In the last game against Bengaluru FC, East Bengal’s desperation caused the needless red card for Miguel Ferreira, putting them at a disadvantage and stopping them from getting a big win.
Bruzon needs to work on improving this particular aspect of his side, as he needs them to be much more headstrong when the pressure starts mounting in difficult matches. He needs the players to be more patient and calmer when needing goals from losing situations, and keep their temperaments in check to avoid any issues with referees. If the East Bengal squad can improve its mental fortitude and be more composed in difficult situations, it will be able to deal with adversity better and get better results from losing positions.
