Aleksandar Jovanovic has made 37 appearances ever since joining the Blues in the ISL.

Bengaluru FC, striving to reclaim their former glory after finishing 10th in the Indian Super League 2023-24 season, have extended Aleksandar Jovanovic’s contract for another year. The club, which last won the ISL in the 2018-19 season and secured the Durand Cup in the 2021-22 season, are actively working to enhance their squad under the direction of their owners.

Despite exploring new talents in various positions, the management have shown confidence in Jovanovic by extending his stay until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Jovanovic, who joined Bengaluru FC ahead of the 2022-23 season, has since made 37 appearances in the ISL, accumulating a total of 2931 minutes of play. His performance has been notably solid, contributing significantly to the team’s defence. A source close to the developments shared, “Bengaluru FC management views Jovanovic as a pivotal figure in the team’s reconstruction plans.”

“They believe his experience and leadership, alongside ISL 2023-24 winning captain Rahul Bheke, whom they signed from Mumbai City FC on a two-year deal, will form a formidable defensive partnership vital for the club’s success in upcoming seasons.”

What’s cooking at Bengaluru FC?

Bengaluru FC are currently planning an overhaul. Under the stewardship of the technical team comprising Albert Roca and Darren Caldeira, the Blues are looking to rejuvenate from the disaster of a season they witnessed in the 2023-24 campaign.

The club have already made amends upfront, signing Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Alberto Noguera from Mumbai City. Both players were part of Mumbai’s ISL 2023-24 triumph and will now shift base to south India to represent the Blues.

With players like Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Chinglensana Singh, Naorem Roshan Singh, Suresh Wangjam and Sunil Chhetri already on their roster, the addition of these players will only make the squad stronger.
