Lalremtluanga Fanai agrees to contract extension with Bengaluru FC

The 20-year-old made 22 appearances off the bench for the Blues this season.
Indian Super League (ISL) club Bengaluru FC have reached an agreement with promising defensive midfielder Lalremtluanga Fanai over a new contract. The new deal will see the 20-year-old player wearing the iconic Blues shirt until the end of the 2027-28 season.
The Blues’ midfielder has matured into a first-team contributor under head coach Gerard Zaragoza’s plans during the 2024-25 season. A player known for his tireless work-rate and defensive solidity on the field, tying down Fanai to a new contract is a huge stride in the club’s push towards promoting youth development.
Can Lalremtluanga Fanai be a key player for Bengaluru FC?

The 20-year-old has showcased glimpses of his amazing potential whenever summoned from the bench by Zaragoza for the Blues. While he has played only in 25% of Bengaluru FC’s games, Fanai has been the understudy of starting players like Pedro Capo and Suresh Singh Wangjam.
His performances off the bench have been indicative of the energy and intensity he brings to the game. A player, not afraid to challenge for the ball and make defensive interceptions, he possesses all the makings of being a promising young star.

Fanai could be crucial for the Blues to bounce back next season stronger

The Blues are expected to conduct some business in the transfer market ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season. However, Bengaluru FC’s midfield department might be losing a few names in the summer, so Fanai’s extension exhibits the club’s faith in his promise to step up and deliver.
Head coach Gerard Zaragoza will be keen to add more ammunition ahead of next season as they look to push across all competitions and win some silverware. Lalremtluanga Fanai’s performances will be reflective of Bengaluru FC’s progress in youth development and he will be determined to repay the club’s faith in the upcoming seasons.
As the club prepares for next season, Bengaluru FC will be hoping that their faith in Fanai through his new contract pays off. With the relentless nature of football and a goldfish memory, the goal for Zaragoza will be to win some silverware next season.
