(Courtesy : ISL Media)
The Blues are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak.
Winning at home continued for Bengaluru FC as they edged past Punjab FC with a 1-0 scoreline in a highly contested match of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The first half saw both teams getting close to scoring, but it was Bengaluru FC who finally broke the deadlock from Roshan Singh’s clinical finish in the 43rd minute.
In the later half of the game, Punjab FC looked positive as they got hold of the ball and kept the pressure on Bengaluru FC. But the Blues also did not stop; despite getting down to ten men after Chinglensana Singh was sent off, Gerard Zaragoza’s men played with great determination and resilience. The Blues have now gone five matches without a loss, whereas the Shers dropped their first points of the season.
Here are the Indian player ratings for the game:
Bengaluru FC (by Analoy Majumder)
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu – 7.0
Gurpreet stood firm under the bar from the start. A few shots were aimed at him in the first half, and he handled them all well. His calmness and efficiency helped Bengaluru FC script their fifth successive clean sheet of the season.
Nikhil Poojary – 7.5
In the first half, Nikhil Poojary produced some amazing clearances, won multiple duels, and did not allow the Shers’ wingers to operate down his channel. He made several good interceptions in the second half as well and did not allow much space for penetration into the final third.
Rahul Bheke – 7.0
Rahul Bheke put in yet another trademark performance with his no-nonsense defending and secured the backline seamlessly. Maintained his shape and composure throughout the game.
Naorem Roshan Singh – 8.0
Roshan Singh broke the game’s deadlock just a few minutes before half-time to put the Blues into the lead. He looked more positive in the second half, won multiple duels, and continuously kept Punjab FC’s defenders at bay.
Chinglensana Singh – 6.5
Chinglensana Singh(Sana) played the first half diligently, making some important interceptions. However, the centre-half was sent off in the 58th minute for a sloppy foul on Mushaga Bakenga.
Suresh Singh – 7.0
Suresh Singh was good defensively and made himself available as an option up front, constantly going forward and even putting in some dangerous crosses.
Rohit Danu – 7.0
Rohit Danu, in the first half, tried creating some positive chances from the wings. He looked positive with the ball, got along well with the midfielders, but finally made his way out for Sunil Chhetri.
Substitutes
Sunil Chhetri – 6.5
Chhetri tried getting himself involved in creating chances. Helped the team both defensively and offensively. He had a few good touches after he came on in the second half in place of Rohit Danu.
Lalremtluanga Fanai – 5.5
He added fresh legs to the team but left the pitch with no notable addition.
Punjab FC (By Keshava Verma)
Ravi Kumar – 6.0
Faced no shot through the night except the goal which Punjab conceded. He was however decent with his long balls.
Khaimithang Lhungdim – 7.0
Lhungdim played the right passes into the final third and was a constant output on the attack. Defensively as well, he made five clearances and recoveries.
Suresh Meitei – 6.5
Suresh Meitei wasn’t at his best tonight but did the job whatsoever by keeping Bengaluru’s attack at bay for the majority of the game.
Abhishek Singh – 7.5
Won five ground duels and made six recoveries, putting in a great performance on both ends of the field.
Vinit Rai – 6.0
Vinit Rai made only 12 passes in 63 minutes and was disappointing in the middle of the park. His contributions lacked quality and it was an all-over poor performance from the midfielder.
Nikhil Prabhu – 7.5
Nikhil Prabhu was quite lively in midfield and stepped up with a dominating performance. Made nine recoveries and played eight balls into the final third.
Nihaal Sudeesh – 7
Sudeesh created four chances and worked hard throughout the game, but could not threaten Gurpreet and his goal line.
Leon Augustine – 6.5
Leon Augustine exhibited a good work rate but had an overall disappointing evening as he could not create any changes, and even failed to register a shot on target.
Substitutes
Ricky Shabong – 6.5
Came on in the 63rd minute, and played decently in the midfield.
Manglenthang Kipgen – N/A
