Juan Pedro Benali is determined to face a tough challenge against Chennaiyin FC.
After a thumping 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters at home, NorthEast United FC will now shift their focus to their most important game of the season against Chennaiyin FC. It will be a do-or-die game for both sides because the stakes are higher than ever.
It promises to be a cracker of a contest as both sides will go all out for the three points. Ahead of the game, NorthEast United’s head coach Juan Pedro Benali addressed the media and shared his thoughts.
Thoughts ahead of the game
The head coach began by sharing his thoughts ahead of the game. He said that the previous game is now in the past and the game against Chennaiyin FC will not be easy as it will be a final.
“Well, the Kerala game is past. We don’t think about it anymore. We have a final tomorrow. It’s not going to be easy. Chennaiyin FC are a very tough, strong, physical team with very good players, technical players, and a great coach. And they know us very well, we know them very well. It should be a special game, a special final.”
Juan Pedro Benali also added that both teams need to win as a draw will not be enough for either of the two. “The one who loses is out and draw is not good for either team. You know, both teams need to win. Yesterday East Bengal did their job. We need to finalize. If we win, great. If we don’t, congratulations to Chennaiyin, and good luck to them. That’s it and be proud. We need to finish the proud work we have been doing in the game,” Benali exclaimed.
Thoughts on Chennaiyin FC
Sharing his thoughts on the Marina Machans, the Spaniard said that they have very good players, but his side will be ready for everything.
“They have good players. In the last two games, they put in the three attackers and one defender (foreigners). Before, they would put in two foreign defenders, one in midfield and one in defence and two like an attack. We are ready for whatever happens. However they play, we will be ready. The most important thing is we’re playing against Chennaiyin, not against a single player. What we need to say is what we look on the front is a good Chennai team,” he concluded.

I think it’s very good work working together all this month.”
