This is a do-or-die contest for both these ISL outfits.
The 2023-24 Indian Super League (ISL) season has entered its business end with teams fighting against each other for the final playoff spot. While five teams are still in the race for a place in the knockouts, Chennaiyin FC are the frontrunners to book the sixth spot.
But, in order to make their playoff appearance a reality, they will have to go to the battlefield against NorthEast United who also have a good chance to book a place in the knockouts. We are definitely in for an interesting game as both teams come into the fixture on the back of motivating wins.
The Stakes
Chennaiyin FC
The Marina Machans have turned things around in their favor ever since the resumption of the league after the international break. They first pulled off a comeback win against Mohun Bagan before registering another comeback win over Jamshedpur FC. Owen Coyle’s side come into the game as favorites because they’ll be keen to build upon their newly found confidence.
NorthEast United
The Highlanders too, registered a dominating 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters at home to keep their playoff aspirations alive. They are currently placed eighth on the table and are just one point away from the sixth position. A win against the former champions will definitely enhance their chances of making it to the knockouts.
