Chennaiyin FC vs East Bengal Preview: Predicted Lineup, Team News | ISL 2026-27

East Bengal beat Chennaiyin FC 3-1 at the Marina Arena in the ISL 2025-26 season.

Matchweek 5 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 season will see East Bengal travel to Chennai to face the Marina Machans in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this Saturday.

Both clubs are on different trajectories in the points table, with Chennaiyin FC more desperate to get their first win of the season.

Clifford Miranda’s side are yet to taste a win in the ISL 2026-27 season. Their goalless draw to Kerala Blasters means that they are currently on 2 points from four league games and are 12th in the points table.

Chennaiyin FC have played good football, especially in their last two games against Mohun Bagan and KBFC. However, the Marina Machans have not been able to finish their chances, in what seems to be a similar story to last season.

East Bengal

East Bengal looks for another win to climb to the top of the table.

The Red and Gold Brigade, on the other hand, has had a wonderful start to their campaign, scoring 9 goals in 2 ISL games. A 5-1 win over Inter Kashi and a 4-0 win over Churchill Brothers mean that the Kolkata club will walk into the game as favourites.

However, their form in the AFC Champions League 2 has not been the best. East Bengal’s late 2-0 loss to Al-Seeb on Tuesday will leave their players and supporters hurting. Also, their recovery will be shorter going into the hot and humid conditions in Chennai.

Team News

Chennaiyin FC: Glan Martins, Maheson Singh, Vivek S and Vignesh Dakshnimamurthy are on the injury list. Emmanuel Imanishimwe received a red card against the Kerala Blasters and will be suspended on Saturday.

East Bengal: Anwar Ali was injured on Tuesday and is unlikely to play.

Player to Watch

Madih Talal (Chennaiyin FC)

Madih Talal in action for Chennaiyin FC against Mohun Bagan SG
Former East Bengal midfielder could play an important role vs the Kolkata outfit.

The duo of Madih Talal and Nikola Stojanovic were outstanding for Chennaiyin FC against both Kerala Blasters and Mohun Bagan. Clifford Miranda will be banking on his experienced midfield pairing once again, with Madih Talal being the ace of his team.

It’s no surprise that CFC are desperate to score goals. With the majority of the chance creation falling on the Frenchman’s soldiers, expect Madih to be Chennai’s main man once again if they are to break their goalscoring jinx.

Bipin Singh (East Bengal)

ISL 2026-27: Antonio Moyano, Mihailo Perović lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 2
Bipin Singh is in action for the Red & Gold side.

Bipin Singh has scored 2 goals, and he also has 1 assist in 2 ISL 2026-27 games. The 32-year-old scored against Chennaiyin FC last season and has a good record against the Southern club.

Overall, Bipin has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in 18 games against the Marina Machans.

The player will be high on confidence and will be the favourite to score against CFC when he takes to the pitch at the Marina Arena on Saturday.
