Chennaiyin FC vs FC Goa Player Ratings: Udanta, Kattimani impress; Gurkirat, Yasir disappoint | ISL 2024-25

Chennaiyin FC settled for a 2-2 draw against FC Goa in an Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.
The proceedings started after a goal by Wilmar Jordan Gil in the 11th minute of play which gave Chennaiyin FC a 1-0 lead. Udanta Singh replied with an equalizer in the 45th minute.
After a penalty conversion by Armando Sadiku in the 51st minute, FC Goa took the lead in the match. In the 79th minute, Daniel Chima Chukwu scored the second equalizer of the match to settle the match at 2-2.
Following the draw, Chennaiyin FC grabbed one point and are now in fifth place with 8 points from five matches. On the other hand, FC Goa moved to eighth place with six points from six matches.

Chennaiyin FC
Samik Mitra – 6.5
Samik had a dull day on the field. His first touches, deflections, and collection everything looked out of place for most part of the match.
Laldinpuia – 7
Laldinpuia’s role was crucial in Chennaiyin FC settling for a draw. He kept a tight watch on the FC Goa attack to keep them under control.
Bikash Yumnam – 6.5
Yumnam could have had a better outing today. He failed to tackle the ball when the opponent looked to penetrate into the final third.
Mandar Rao Desai – 6
Mandar Rao Desai’s aggression was quite evident on the field but in a desperate attempt to keep the game under control he bagged a yellow card.
Lalrinliana Hnamte – 6
Hnamte received a yellow card in the first half of play, which subdued his instinct in the match as he became cautious during any attempt while defending.
Irfan Yadwad – 7
Yadwad was quite brilliant for Chennaiyin FC throughout the match. His crossing was quite impressive and he rarely lost possession.
Farukh Choudhary – 6.5
Farukh was subbed off in the 59th minute of play due to a lack of intent on the field. He needs to work on his his passing skills as most of the time he lost possession during those attempts.
Substitutes
Vincy Barretto – 5.5
Baretto replaced Yadwad in the 59th minute of play. Although he made some desperate attempts to create chances for his team, in the end, he couldn’t convert any of them.
Gurkirat Singh – 5.5
Gurkirat controlled the left flank with ease after his entry into the field. He created numerous chances, mostly after the 85th minute of play where he looked more aggressive.

Laxmikant Kattimani – 7.5
Kattimani had a long night out between the sticks for FC Goa. The challenges came running to him but he dealt with them clinically and dived the right way at the right time to deny some crucial goals.
Udanta Singh – 7.5
Udanta scored the first equalizer for FC Goa in the 45th minute of play. Irrespective of it, he looked quite energetic throughout the match and looked to create chances from the slightest of openings.
Jay Gupta – 7
Jay Gupta made crucial clearances in the first half of play despite looking shaky on the left-hand side of the heart of defense.
Aakash Sangwan – 6.5
Sangwan remained composed on the field and controlled the left flank for the team. He kept making the right moves whenever Yadwad looked to penetrate lines.
Rowllin Borges – 6
Rowllin Borges never looked to be in complete form. Although he looked pumped up during his stay on the pitch, he never looked instrumental in creating plays.
Boris Singh Thangjam – 6.5
Boris Singh’s game improved in the second half of play when he gave some interesting crosses in an attempt to create chances for his team.
Brison Fernandes – 6.5
Brison kept on toiling hard on the pitch. He proved to be a threat for the opponent mostly in the first half of play where he looked to get through the backline.
Substitutes
Ayush Chhetri – 6.5
Chhetri was substituted in place of Borges in the 59th minute of play. With his entry, the midfield of FC Goa looked active and eventually played a crucial role in shielding their defense during the dying moments of the match.
Mohammad Yasir – 5
Yasir came onto the field in place of Brison in the 68th minute of play. Even though the youngster had enough time to prove himself on the field, he lost possession at crucial moments that took the momentum away from his team.
