A look at the players who are currently out on loan in search of furthering their careers.

The Indian Super League (ISL) clubs have had a history of loaning out players every season to other clubs. Loan systems in place allow young aspiring talent to gain invaluable experience playing for other teams.

A system which is employed across continents allows clubs to keep tabs on these promising players while effectively managing their squads. It helps them track their progression and also allows their parent clubs to make a decision about their futures at the club.

The ISL successfully used the loan system

Players like Romeo Fernandes who played for Athletico Paranaense on a short loan spell from FC Goa, showcase the importance of that system. Loans are an effective way for players to gain exposure and build on their existing skill set.

During this ongoing season, promising players like Punjab FC‘s Nihal Sudeesh have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of their successful predecessors. A successful loan spell could also help Indian players fastrack themselves into national squad prospects.

Apart from Mohun Bagan Super Giant, all other ISL clubs have loaned out players this season to the grassroots leagues below the top division of Indian football.

Here’s a look at the young prospects who have been loaned out by the clubs this season:
