Bino George also spoke about things going wrong for East Bengal.
East Bengal’s disappointing start to the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season continued as they suffered a dismal 2-0 loss to Jamshedpur FC on Saturday (5 October). Bino George took responsibility for the team after the resignation of Carles Cuadrat.
Despite dominating the majority of the possession and creating several chances, goals from Rei Tachikawa and Lalchungnunga’s own goal settled the win for the hosts.
Despite seeing the Red & Gold Brigade lose their fourth straight ISL game this season, Bino George was proud of his team’s display. He stated after the match, “This is football. If you analyze the first half on paper, they had 73% ball possession. We played a lot of good games, but we didn’t get the goals yet.
“But the spirit that East Bengal showed was good and we showed that in our attempts to come back. We have some gaps, so hopefully we can come fresh out of the international break. Luck is also a factor. We struck the crossbar in the second half, their goalkeeper produced an outstanding performance. So those factors matter,” Bino Geroge added.

East Bengal remains the only ISL side yet to pick up a point this season. They are already five points behind the top six (playoffs place), but Bino George remains upbeat that his side will be able to get into the top six at the end of the league stages.
Bino geroge vowed, “If you see this performance, then we only lacked goals today. Compared to the last three matches, we played more attacking football. We started the game in an attacking style and created a lot of chances.
“We’ve only played four games still, here are a lot of games in the ISL season. 100% I believe East Bengal can get into the top-6 playoff spot, 100%. That is my word to you,” Bino George also stated.
The ISL schedule doesn’t get any easier for East Bengal. They will face off rivals Mohun Bagan in their next match on 19 October, which could mark the debut of a potential new head coach if anyone else is hired before the derby.
