FC Goa vs Bengaluru FC Player Ratings: Yasir, Jhingan shine as Gurpreet, Danu disappoint | ISL 2024-25
(Courtesy : ISL media)
FC Goa were dominant throughout the game.
Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa ended Gerard Zaragoza’s Bengaluru FC’s unbeaten run in the Indian Super League (ISL) this season. With this win, FC Goa registered their first home win this season. Armando Sadiku opened the goalscoring chart for the team in orange before Brison chipped the ball over the BFC keeper Gurpreet to double the lead.
Dejan Drazic who tried and tried to find the back of the net throughout the game eventually succeeded in the injury time putting the game to rest and ending the game with a 3-0 scoreline.
With that being said, here are the ratings of Indian players from the game.
FC Goa (by Rutvij Joshi)
Hrithik Tiwari – 6
Hrithik made his ISL debut in the absence of Laxmikant Kattimani and the 22-year-old showed his composure at the back. In the first half, he was called upon action multiple times but dealt with the crosses with ease
Boris Singh – 6.5
Bengaluru FC, throughout the game, defended deep into their half which gave Boris the space to make darting runs and fire in the crosses and the youngster did exactly that multiple times. Unfortunately, the balls for Armando Sadiku were dealt with brilliantly by the BFC defence.
Sandesh Jhingan – 7
Sandesh Jhingan started his first game after his injury and he played like he never went. The defence of FC Goa was alleviated by his presence. Sandesh did not give a sniff to Sunil Chhetri and Edgar Mendes to run with the ball sticking with the duo the entire time.
Aakash Sangwan – 6
Aakash Sangwan was lively in the first half making runs down the left but his set-piece delivery had let him down. In the second half, he was pinned in his defensive half and was chasing the ball until Sadiku scored for the Gaurs
Sahil Tavora – 6.5
Sahil Tavora weathered the storm in the second half and had a quiet game. However, it was his awareness and his interception that created a turnover for the home side for the first goal
Mohammad Yasir – 7.5
Mohammed Yasir attracted the defenders with his moves in a bid to create spaces for his teammates. The first goal was the prime example of how he opened up space for Sadiku by squaring the ball rather than going for a shot himself
Ayush Chhetri – 6
Ayush Chhetri combined well with Drazic’s interchanging positions giving his compatriot a chance to run at defense. Ayush played as a shadow striker to Sadiku chasing the second balls. He wasn’t influential in the game but did not put a foot wrong
Substitutions
Brison Fernandes – 7
Brison came in replacing Yasir on the right wing and he scored a goal within a couple of minutes. Gurpreet made an error trying to sweep the ball from the back. Brison chipped the ball above Gurpreet with his first touch sealing a deal for his side
Sanatomba Singh – N/A
Bengaluru FC (by Anuj T)
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu- 4.5
A night to forget for the Blues no. 1 after conceding two goals. Gurpreet was at fault for FC Goa scoring the second goal. The goalkeeper didn’t clear his lines and pressure from Armando Sadiku led to the goal. Wasteful with long balls to his strikers.
Chinglensana Singh- 5
Played well and kept things tight in the first half. However, was hooked off the field after the 56th minute in favor of Pereyra Diaz.
Rahul Bheke- 6
Solid presence at the back for Bengaluru. Made important interceptions but was unlucky in all the goals that Bengaluru conceded. Cleared the defensive lines in important situations
Roshan Singh- 5.5
The left-back was quiet throughout the game. Wasn’t able to affect the game much. Unfortunately had a wicked deflection off him for Goa’s first goal.
Rohit Danu- 5
Wasteful in attack against FC Goa. Made audacious attempts from long range and never truly tested the opposition defenders.
Lalremtluanga Fanai- 5.5
Had a solid game in the midfield. Tireless throughout the game but unfortunately just was restricted to putting out fires on the pitch.
Sunil Chettri- 5.5
Chettri wasn’t able to make much of an impact. Restricted to work with scraps via wayward crosses from the wings. Struggled to get a clear sight of goal.
Suresh Singh Wangjham- 5.5
Came on as a substitute in the 46th minute. Was a solid player in midfield. Tried to reignite some energy in attack. However, wasn’t able to deliver the final ball to the attackers
Mohammed Salah- 5
Replaced a defender to add an extra man in attack. However, failed to make significant entries during what was a frustrating day on both sides of the ball for Bengaluru
Sivasakthi Narayanan- 5
Came on as a substitute in the 88th minute. Tried to make an impact off the bench. However, was not able to create many chances for Edgar Mendez to attack through the wings.
Monirul Molla- N/A
