FC Goa score a late equaliser to snatch a point away from the Highlanders

Northeast United and FC Goa played out a brilliant game of football at the Fatorda, as both teams salvaged a point each after quite an entertaining game in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 on Friday.

The Highlanders took an early lead, which was canceled out via Armando Sadiku’s strike at the brink of half-time. In the second half, FC Goa struck early but were hit with two quick goals by NorthEast United to retake the lead.

In the added time though, Borja came clutch for his team and scored a brilliant goal to get his team a point.

Here are the ratings from the game.

FC Goa (By Keshava Verma)

Lakshmikant Kattimani – 6.0

Had a poor night in goal as he conceded three goals, one of them being the result of his poor positioning, and failed to make an impact for his team.

Nim Dorjee – 6.5

Despite some moments of defensive brilliance, Nim Dorjee lacked his usual sharpness and was caught lacking by NorthEast United.

Akash Sangwan – 6.0

Made an error in the buildup to NorthEast’s first goal, and could not stop the likes of Nestor Albiach and Alaeddine Ajaraie from impeding Goa’s backline.

Udanta Singh – 6.5

Udanta had a difficult night trying to contain the Highlanders’ attack. Was quite impactful with his attacking contributions, however, creating openings on several occasions.

Sahil Tavora – 6.0

Tavora had a poor display in midfield and failed to create an impact in the middle of the park. Some of his forward passes, however, were quite accurate and precise.

Ayush Chhetri – 7.0

Had an assist to his name and put up a decent performance in the front for his team. His creativity and quick thinking helped Goa salvage a point from the game.

Boris Singh – 7.0

Boris had a busy night in the wings and worked very hard to create decent openings for his team.

Substitutions

Jay Gupta – 6.5

NorthEast United (By Parashar Kalita)

Gurmeet made a crucial fingertip save in the 74th minute, which was his highlight of the night. During the penalty, the custodian guessed the correct side to dive, but the shot was too powerful. His ball collection was good, and he made some good punches throughout the game but he couldn’t do anything for FC Goa’s second and third goals.

The Indian centre-back held his defensive ground and made several 3 clearances, including headed ones. Akhtar also had four crucial interception to his name.
