FC Goa issue official statement amid Brison Fernandes transfer saga

FC Goa make their stance clear
With the transfer market already heating up, amid all the transfer speculations FC Goa have officially released a statement addressing the departure of Brison Fernandes, sharing their own version of events behind this transfer saga.
According to the statement released, the club claimed that they made multiple attempts to retain the player with an improved and better contract before accusing the player’s agent of using those proposals to start a bidding war among clubs.
While FC Goa did clarify that they hold no issue with the other club which according to reports is Chennaiyin FC, for signing the player, they expressed deep disappointment over the negotiations that they described were conducted in bad faith.
“Let us be clear: FC Goa wanted to retain Brison. We made him multiple contract offers, each one higher than the last. Until a couple of days, we had no other offer on the table. What we did have was an agent using our own offers to shop him around to clubs across the country, in an attempt to manufacture a bidding war.”
“We were not willing to participate in that. Once it became clear what was happening, we spoke directly to the club he was moving to and stated our position without ambiguity. The same was communicated to Brison himself. We have no issue with the other club, they invested what they chose to invest, and that is entirely their prerogative.”
FC Goa highlight their role in Brison’s development

FC Goa’s statement further focused on Brison’s journey through the club’s system.
They pointed out that they continued to support the player even after the contract expired by looking at the injury rehabilitation.
“What we will say is this: Brison was developed by this club from a stage where his own agent did not know he existed. For over two months after his contract expired, FC Goa continued to manage his injury and the recovery process, at our own expense, with no obligation to do so. In return, the consideration shown to the club by player and agent alike was minimal.”
FC Goa condemned the negotiation

FC Goa described this negotiation process as a “familiar playbook”.
According to the statement, their offers were allegedly used to get a better proposal from the market.
“This is not new. It is a familiar playbook: use one club’s genuine offers as leverage against others, manufacture competition where none exists, and dress it up as ambition. FC Goa did not want to be part of that kind of bidding, now or in the future.”
The club also said that they are willing to go public with the complete record of communication if the player or his agent denies any of the claims made.
“If either the player or his agent wishes to dispute any part of what is stated above, we are prepared to make available the full record of communications in the public domain.”
“FC Goa wishes Brison well. Our door does not close on players who wear this badge, but it will not be pushed open by negotiation in bad faith either.”
