The Blues will be looking to get back on track against Mohammedan SC on Wednesday.
Indian Super League (ISL) club Bengaluru FC head coach Gerard Zaragoza expressed his thoughts about club players representing India at a recent pre-match press conference. While offering his insights on various key topics ahead of the upcoming ISL fixture against Mohammedan SC, the Spaniard spoke in glowing terms about his team.
The Spaniard reserved special praise for Mohamed Salah’s stellar performances in recent match weeks and the growing number of Bengaluru FC players in the Indian national team.
Gerard Zaragoza proud of club’s contribution National team
Speaking after the conclusion of the international break, the Spaniard expressed pride in Bengaluru FC’s players being regular contributors to India’s squad. Players like Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Naorem Roshan Singh, Rahul Bheke and Suresh Singh Wangjham are starters for the Indian national team. He stated, “For the club, it’s an amazing situation. All these players we can bring to the national team and also play in the starting XI, it’s perfect for us.”
Gerard Zaragoza also highlighted how this consistent representation reflects the club’s strong development structure and tactical acumen, despite managerial and tactical changes in recent seasons. While Zaragoza was proud of this trend, he humorously admitted his reservations about the exodus of his starters during international duty.

Gerard Zaragoza stated, “If you ask me as a coach, I prefer that no one goes there because I want to work with them. And of course, we want to prepare the team as much as possible. But that’s what it is.”
The Blues are loving Mohamed Salah’s contributions
Switching gears to their upcoming encounter against Mohammedan SC, Zaragoza praised the impact of Mohammed Salah in recent games. The 30-year-old and his performances especially in the last few games showcase the development of his game this season. Salah has provided able competition to the club’s starting left back Naorem Roshan Singh, while contributing 2 assists in 4 games this season.
While talking about Salah, Gerard Zaragoza stated, “He’s improving a lot. He has quality in his legs. He tries to understand everything I’m trying to tell him. We saw him last season. We saw him when he started the pre-season. Then he started to have some injuries. But now he’s 100% available. I think that for him it’s important to push hard, to be at the level of Roshan.”
The coach’s comments are a reflection of Salah’s growing influence on Bengaluru’s attacking play. Zaragoza also lauded the 30-year-old’s ability to play multiple positions and views his versatility as an asset for any coach.
As the club prepares for their next challenge at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) stadium, the combination of Salah’s form and the team’s drive to improve will be on full display. A club that is known to provide their young stars a platform to succeed for both league success and national representation will aim to establish themselves as one of Indian football’s powerhouses.
