Mikael Stahre was happy with the comeback after their poor run of form.
Kerala Blasters produced a spectacular performance in front of their home crowd at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, defeating Chennaiyin FC 3-0 in a crucial Indian Super League (ISL) encounter. Korou Singh came up with a wonderful performance. The South Derby saw the Blasters bounce back emphatically after a series of tough losses, delivering a complete performance that showcased their attacking flair and defensive solidity.
Head coach Mikael Stahre, speaking at the post-match press conference, lauded his team’s focus and determination in a crucial win. The Blaster’s dominance was evident from the start, as they created wave after wave of attacking moves.
Crucial to their success were many names but an underrated talented winger was a remarkable performance, young winger Korou Singh Thingujam, whose electrifying pace and creativity played a central role in the victory, including a key assist for the opening goal.
Why Was Korou Singh Crucial?
Korou Singh’s contributions were crucial to Blaster’s success. Despite being relatively new to the senior squad, the 17-year-old displayed extraordinary composure and skill. His ability to exploit space on the wings and deliver key passes added a dynamic edge to the Blaster’s attack. Korou even played a crucial role in setting up one of the goals, further cementing his status as a rising potential.
Reflecting on Korou’s impact, coach Mikael Stahre was full of praise. “He’s a talented boy. He couldn’t join pre-season as he was with the youth international team. But when I saw him, I immediately knew he would be competitive in our squad. He has extraordinary qualities—his speed and one-on-one ability stand out. He also works hard.”
Shaping the Victory: Korou Singh’s Impact on Kerala’s Win
Korou’s ability to stretch the defence and deliver decisive moments in the attack was instrumental in breaking down Chennaiyin’s resistance. His development under Stahre’s guidance promises to add more depth to Kerala’s attacking options in the long term.
Though Singh has shown glimpses of brilliance, the coach also acknowledged that he’s still not fully fit for a complete 90-minute performance. “He’s not fully ready for 90 minutes yet,” Mikael Stahre admitted.
I noticed he dropped off a bit in the second half, even though he contributed to a goal.” Despite the fatigue, Singh’s contribution was undeniable. His persistence led to a crucial assist, and his involvement in building up attacks was key to Kerala’s dominant display.
Though not the man of the match, his involvement in the game helped Kerala Blasters assert dominance, making his presence felt at the top. The young winger is quickly becoming a key figure in Kerala’s setup, with his potential only set to rise as he gains more experience.
