Inter Kashi FC vs FC Goa: Three key player battles to watch out for ISL 2026-27 clash
The Banaras outfit will host FC Goa tonight as both sides continue the search for their first win in MG ISL 2026-27
Inter Kashi FC have one point from three games and have conceded eight. They sit among the ISL’s bottom sides, and a win would still lift them above FC Goa. That’s how tight the early table is, and it’s why this match at Balewadi matters more than a November fixture normally would.
FC Goa arrive with momentum and a flaw. They’ve scored in each of their last five matches across all competitions, but haven’t kept a clean sheet in that span. They rescued a point against SC Delhi on Wednesday with Álex Vallejo’s 90+5th-minute finish, a side that scores freely and defends carelessly.
Kashi’s best route to a first win is to turn every Goan move to their advantage.
Three individual duels should show whether that plan works.
Rosenberg Gabriel vs Sandesh Jhingan
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere

Goa press high and push their fullbacks into advanced positions. That works while they hold the ball, but it leaves the channels behind them open when they lose it.
Gabriel is Kashi’s most direct outlet there. His job is to start progressive carries into the space that a stranded Sandesh Jhingan leaves behind, rather than to hold width.
Goa will use wide overloads to keep Kashi’s backline pinned, so the question is who recovers faster. If Gabriel gets his carries off in the first 20 minutes, Goa’s high line will have to drop deeper, and that takes away the territory their attack depends on.
Hitesh Sharma vs Álex Vallejo

With Kashi fielding an all-Indian squad, creating chances falls largely on Hitesh Sharma. His passing accuracy is only half the picture. What actually matters is the threat that he creates: how many of his passes move the ball into zones where shots happen.
Kashi needs Hitesh to break Goa’s first line of pressure with progressive passes, which means he needs to be the visible node in their passing network. If he’s the hub, Kashi can attack. If Goa isolate him, Kashi will be reduced to long balls.
Vallejo is the player most likely to isolate him. He wins second balls and breaks up transitions, and he also arrives late in the box.
Against Delhi, he turned up in the right place for Feuillassier’s free-kick. Kashi needs to track him on set pieces as carefully as they track him in open play, because Delhi were punished for defending that free kick with only ten men, and Kashi can’t afford the same lapse.
Albino Gomes vs Chiki

Gomes is the last line of defence that has conceded eight times, so he’ll get plenty of work. On a night like this, a goalkeeper’s job is to decide how many of those chances become goals.
Chiki is the man asking the question. He has already scored 4 goals in 6 matches for Goa across competitions, and he’ll be hungry for more against the league’s leakiest defence. Gomes needs to keep Kashi in the game long enough for the counters to matter.
