Jamshedpur FC vs Bengaluru FC: All-time head-to-head record in ISL

Bengaluru’s biggest-ever defeat came in this fixture in their title-winning season
The JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur gears up to host the Matchweek 12 fixtures of the Indian Super League, where home team Jamshedpur FC are all set to lock horns with defending ISL finalists Bengaluru FC in the Steel Derby.
Jamshedpur FC are coming after two consecutive wins over FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC and are jointly placed at the top of the ISL table. The Red Miners have been unbeaten at home so far and are one of the favourites to win the ISL Shield. Owen Coyle will be keen to make the most of his home advantage to get the better of the Blues.
The Blues are mathematically still in contention for the championship race, but a series of draws has massively affected their title ambitions. After a defeat to Kerala at home, Bengaluru are coming after three draws against East Bengal, Mumbai City FC and Odisha.
Historically, this has been one of the most thrilling fixtures of the ISL, and a total of 43 goals have been scored in 18 games so far, clocking an average of over 2 goals per game. From Sunil Chhetri scoring the most goals in this fixture to Jamshedpur handing Bengaluru their biggest-ever defeat, this fixture has seen it all.
In this article, we take a ride down memory lane and find out how history has shaped this rivalry and take a look at some of the most intense games between these two sides.
Jamshedpur FC vs Bengaluru FC: head-to-head record

Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC made their debut in the Indian Super League together in 2017. In their early meetings, Jamshedpur FC were a bit dominant over the Blues.
In the 2018-19 season, Bengaluru FC went on to become the ISL Champions, but suffered their biggest ever ISL defeat against Jamshedpur FC at the Furnace. The Blues already made it to the semis, and Carles Cuadrat fielded his reserve side, and the Red Miners went on to defeat the Blues 5-1 in their title-winning season.
After Owen Coyle took over the reins of Jamshedpur, they won two of their four games and suffered only one defeat. In Coyle’s maiden season as JFC coach, he completed a league double over the Blues after Stephen Eze scored the goal of the season and JFC scored 3-2 in the reverse fixture to make it two out of two.
After the former Burnley gaffer left the Steel City, Bengaluru dominated this fixture. From beating the Red Miners in the Durand Cup to knocking them out of the Super Cup semi-finals, Bengaluru went on to win six games in a row against the Red Miners in all competitions.
From Simon Grayson to Gerard Zaragoza, Bengaluru FC were unbeaten against the Red Miners. After being winless for four years, Khalid Jamil’s Jamshedpur turned the tables at the Furnace last season when these two sides locked horns against each other.
It was the first fixture of the calendar year 2025, and Bengaluru FC drew first blood after Alberto Noguera made it 1-0. Just when it seemed like BFC were walking away with all three points, Jordan Murray equalised, and Uvais went on to score the winner in the dying minutes of the game to make it 2-1 for Jamshedpur.
All-time head-to-head record

Total matches – 18
Jamshedpur FC won – 5
Bengaluru FC won – 5
Matches drawn – 9
Historically, it is the Blues who have won half of the total games in this fixture. In fact, from Steve Coppell, Owen Coyle, Aidy Boothroyd, Antonio Iriondo to Khalid Jamil, the Blues have defeated Jamshedpur FC in every era. Sunil Chhetri is the leading goalscorer in this fixture, followed by Alberto Noguera.
For Jamshedpur, Pablo Morgado and Stephen Eze have scored the maximum goals. It will be an interesting game at the Furnace, and records suggest that Bengaluru FC have history on their side but the former Houston Dynamo gaffer doesn’t operate on records and will be keen to maintain his unbeaten streak at the Furnace.
A great contest awaits us in the first planned industrial city of independent India, where anything other than a win could be detrimental for Jamshedpur FC’s title hopes. For Bengaluru, they are four points behind the table toppers and a win is must to keep their title hopes alive.
