Jamshedpur FC eye top spot in ISL 2025-26 with win over debutants Inter Kashi in Furnace

Can Owen Coyle propel Jamshedpur to top of ISL table with a win over the Varanasi-based outfit?
As the Steel City of Jamshedpur lights up to celebrate Founder’s Day to honour the visionary JN Tata, the Furance is gearing up to host the Matchweek 4 fixture of the Indian Super League, where two undefeated teams, Jamshedpur FC and Inter Kashi, lock horns.
This is a golden opportunity for the Red Miners to solidify their lead at the top of the ISL points table. Inter Kashi, on the other hand, are new to the top flight, but have been exceptional so far, remaining undefeated in their first three games of their ISL campaign.
The Stakes
Jamshedpur FC

The Red Miners are now one of the serious contenders to win the ISL Shield, and with Mohun Bagan out of the continental race, Jamshedpur FC remains one of the favourites to clinch the ACL 2 Qualifiers spot. After all, the Red Miners have unarguably been one of the best teams in this competition so far.
After two lacklustre wins over Punjab FC and Mohammedan SC, there were questions about how Owen Coyle handle the East Bengal test. But goals from Stephen Eze and Rei Tachikawa were enough to script a historic comeback for the Red Miners over the Red and Gold Brigade in the City of Joy.
Inter Kashi

Every newly promoted team have struggled in their first few games in the ISL. But Inter Kashi chose to write a different chapter as they remain one of the very few unbeaten teams in this competition. After back-to-back draws against FC Goa and Odisha FC, the Varanasi outfit clinched their first ISL win against Kerala Blasters.
The holy Ganges have showered its choicest benedictions upon the Kashi side, and now a win in the next game could take them to eight points. All eyes will be on Antonio Lopez Habas, who has been one of the greatest coaches in the history of this competition, and he can stun the Red Miners in their backyard.

Players to watchout
Narender Gahlot (Inter Kashi)

The Delhi-born defender has spent three seasons in the Steel City of India and was part of their ISL Shield-winning campaign in 2022. After leaving the Steel City, young Gahlot played for Odisha FC before finding his new home in Varanasi with Inter Kashi.
Gahlot has represented the Indian youth teams and even made his national debut back in 2019 against Tajikistan during the Intercontinental Cup. He will be tasked with getting the better of Jamshedpur FC’s strikers, as a win for Kashi would take them to the top four.
Nikola Stojanovic (Jamshedpur FC)

The Serbian midfielder will be up against familiar faces when Jamshedpur FC lock horns against Inter Kashi in the next game. Stojanovic was part of the Inter Kashi team that went on to win the I League last season. He has plied his trade with teams like Petrovac, Minsk and Sparta PAE before making a move to India.
Stojanovic started the last game for the Red Miners alongside Pronay and is expected to play a crucial role in dominating the midfield. His presence adds another attacking option in the centre of the park for Owen Coyle, allowing creative playmakers like Madih Talal to exert pressure during transition plays.
