Although Fedor Cernych provided Kerala Blasters with the opening goal of the game, the club failed to secure the much needed win.
Kerala Blasters started the high-scoring encounter against East Bengal on the front foot. In the 23rd minute, Rahul KP put in a teasing ball into the box.
Lithuanian striker Fedor Cernych pounced upon Aleksandar Pantic’s mistake, went past goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill and slotted the ball into the back of the net to give the home side a 1-0 lead. The celebration was short-lived, however, as East Bengal responded with a determined fightback.
Their persistence paid off just before half time when a foul inside the box earned them a penalty. Saul Crespo stepped up calmly and converted from the spot, sending the scores level at 1-1. This goal ignited a spirited East Bengal performance in the second half, ultimately leading them to a comeback victory against the Blasters.
