The striker penned a sentimental message on Instagram announcing his departure.
Dimitrios Diamantakos has announced his departure from Indian Super League outfit Kerala Blasters FC. After two successful years, he leaves the Yellow Army where the striker scored 28 goals and provided seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
In his farewell message on Instagram, the Greek forward spoke fondly about his time in India and the love he received from the fans of the Yellow Army. “Unfortunately these 2 amazing full of exciting adventures and experiences years in Kerala have come to an end…I do not have words to express myself for the moments we have cherished together as a team. You made me feel more welcomed than ever and I couldn’t be more grateful about that,” he wrote in an emotional post.
He further went on to thank the passionate fanbase of the Kerala Blasters FC for their constant support throughout his time at the club. He wrote, “The continuous support and love that I have received since day one from our fans has been incredible. Thank you. I will always remember you and I wish you the best of luck!!”
Dimitrios Diamantakos is an exceptional goal-scorer
Dimitrios Diamantakos was sensational during his time at Kerala Blasters FC, scoring plenty of goals and leading by example as captain in the absence of Adrian Luna during the 2023-24 season. He won the Golden Boot by scoring 13 goals and making three assists in merely 17 appearances during the recent campaign.
The 31-year-old scored in double digits in both of his terms in the Indian Super League and established himself as a deadly finisher. His departure certainly leaves a huge gaping hole in Kerala Blasters FC’s squad and finding an able replacement for him would be challenging. Moving forward, the Yellow Army must make smart decisions in the transfer market ahead of the new season following Ivan Vukomanovic’s separation from the club as well.
