The Hyderabad FC defender scored a late equalizer against East Bengal in their previous fixture
Manoj Mohammad’s Hyderabad FC will kickstart their New Year 2025 in the Indian Super League (ISL) as they face Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the Salt Lake Stadium on the 2nd of January.
The Nawabs will not find it easy to grab the three points against the home side but a draw or a win can be a huge booster for the Yellow and Black for a better second half in their ISL campaign.
Defender Manoj Mohammad spoke to the media before the fixture against Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
On their current form
Hyderabad FC had a rocky start to the season. Despite creating chances and scoring goals, The Nawabs were not able to capitalize on their chances and grab the points thereby leaving them languishing at the 12th position in the table.
“We did not have an easy season. As you see we were continuously playing the games but we were not getting any points. But in the last match we got a point. This is a very good motivation for the team. So we will try to win the next match.” Manoj Mohammad commented.
On facing Mohun Bagan Super Giant
Mohun Bagan Super Giant have had an impressive season and is at the top of the league table. Hyderabad FC have a relatively younger squad against the experienced Mariners. The Hyderabad FC defender acknowledged that it won’t be an easy fixture but also said that they are determined to get all three points
“I believe every match is equally as important. It’s not just Mohun Bagan, all the matches are important. They are a good team and on the top of the table, It will not be that easy.
“We got a point but we have to face a big team next so We are focusing on the match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant now. Whatever happened against East Bengal FC has happened. But how we move forward is important for us.” Manoj Mohammad stated.
On his goal against East Bengal
Manoj Mohammad had suffered an ACL injury and was undergoing recovery and rehabilitation. He had started the game against NorthEast United FC and created 2 chances but couldn’t score a goal. But against East Bengal FC, the defender scored a late equalizer against his former team
“I feel really good scoring for the team. I got injured in the Super Cup in a fixture against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in January and then I was recovering. I have already played for East Bengal earlier and It felt really good to score a goal against them,” said Manoj Mohammad.
They played really well But We also controlled the team equally well. We followed exactly what our coach had told us to do. We had a great training session too. Finally, we implemented the planning on the ground. And once the equaliser came We felt really good. We scored a point and we are happy. But now we are looking forward to the next game,” Manoj Mohammad concluded.
