Mumbai City FC didn’t fumble even after a change at helm mid-season.
Mumbai City FC have successfully made it to the finals of the 2023-24 Indian Super League and will take on Mohun Bagan on the road at the renowned Salt Lake Stadium.
The Islanders started off the season with Des Buckingham as the head coach. However, in the middle of the season, the Englishman left the team to take on the managerial role at his childhood club, Oxford United.
At that time, many thought that Mumbai City FC would stumble and take some time to recover from the loss of Buckingham. However, their new head coach, Petr Kratky, wove magic as the team prospered more and more under his tutelage.
Out of the 18 league games that Kratky managed thereafter, Mumbai City FC lost only thrice, winning twelve of those 18 fixtures and drawing three. The Islanders also finished second in the table, having just missed out on the ISL Shield after facing defeat at the hands of Mohun Bagan on the final matchday.
