Mumbai City FC vs Mohammedan SC lineups, team news, prediction and preview

Mumbai City FC will take on Black and White Brigade on matchday 18 in the ISL.

Mumbai City FC will lock horns against the Mohammedan SC on Sunday evening at the Mumbai Football Arena in the Indian Super League (ISL). Both teams will not be happy with their current position on the points table and will look to improve their performance to get high up in the table.

The Isndalder’s last fixture ended in a draw against Punjab FC and Mohammedan SC survived another loss by scoring a last-minute penalty against the Marina Machans as the match ended in a 2-2 stalemate. This upcoming fixture is very important for both teams and surely this will be an exciting clash.

The Stakes

Mumbai City FC

Fans have raised their voice against their coaching staff and players as they have failed to deliver good performance as well as results in this season. Many people even want their head coach Petr Kratky to be sacked despite being in the race for the top six. Considering the level of signing they did in the summer surely the expectation was huge and now they are nowhere near it.

At home as well as away from home they have dropped points and have lost points from winning position. They will have to get the three points against the Black Panthers to get out of the pressure. If they once again fail to get three points there will surely be consequences.

Mohammedan SC

In the last few fixtures, Mohammedan SC has performed much better and will be confident when they face the Islanders. Even though the penalty decision was a controversial one still they managed to get a point through it.

Defence has been a big issue for the Black Panthers and they will have to be at their best to stop the home team’s attack. Despite having issues on and off the pitch they will be happy if they force the Islanders to drop points. If they somehow are able to get a positive result this will be a huge confidence booster for them for sure.

Injury and Team News

Mumbai City FC will miss, Akash Mishra and Jeremy Manzoro due to injuries. On the other hand, Mohammedan SC will miss Cesar Manzoki and Joseph Adjei due to injuries. Florent Ogier will miss the match due to suspension.

Players to Watch

Nikos Karelis (Mumbai City FC)

The striker from Greece did take some time to adapt in the Indian Super League but now he is the leading goalscorer of the Islanders. However, the fans are still unhappy with his performance because he missed many opportunities to score and this season the Islanders are struggling to convert chances into goals. Karelis will have to step up his game to help his team get points in upcoming games.

The Black Panther’s defence this season has been very poor and the Greek is very much capable of creating a lot of trouble for them, considering this will be a home game for the Islanders. The coaching staff trust him a lot and without a doubt, he has the quality to make a difference for the team.

Bikash Singh (Mohammedan SC)

The youngster has impressed the fans with his performance this season, even though sometimes inconsistency leads to criticism as the fans have a lot of expectations from the team. Even against FC Goa, he did well and Manolo Marquez praised him for his performance, in the upcoming fixtures as well he will have to deliver a good performance for sure. Statically his profile may not look very impressive but when he is on the pitch his impact is visible on the team’s performance.
