The Highlanders ran riot on a record-breaking outing against the Red Miners.
NorthEast United FC thrashed Jamshedpur FC by a 5-0 goal margin in their Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium in Guwahati. This is the second win for the Highlanders in this season of ISL.
NorthEast United’s Moroccan hitman, Alaeddine Ajaraie, scored the first goal of the match from outside the box. He also assisted the second goal, scored by Parthib Gogoi, and played a crucial role in the buildup to Gogoi’s second of the night.
The Red Miners’ centre-half Stephen Eze was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 27th minute. In the last 10 minutes of the match, Macarton Nickson and Ajaraie scored the fourth and fifth goals of the match respectively.
Here are the Indian player ratings for the game:
NorthEast United (by Parashar Kalita)
Parthib Gogoi – 8.5
Parthib Gogoi became the highest goal scorer for the Highlanders with 16 goals in all competitions. At first, he missed some goal-scoring opportunities. However, in the 44th and 54th minutes, he scored two goals for his team. Substituted in the 71st minute.
Jithin M.S – 8
An unlucky day for the right winger. Jithin could have scored the second goal but missed the chance. However, he put in a delightful ball to Parthib Gogoi, who did not squander it.
Buanthanglun Samte – 7.0
Buanthanglun Samte assisted the first goal of the match. He took almost all the corners for the Highlanders. In defense, he made four tackles, one clearance, and one interception.
Gurmeet Singh – 6.5
Not tested much in the match. He made his first save in the 57th minute, denying Seiminlen Doungel and secured his second clean sheet of the season.
Dinesh Singh – 6.5
Dinesh Singh was tasked with handling Mohammed Sanan and did well. In defense, he made one tackle and one clearance.
Asheer Akhtar – 6.5
A good day for the central back. With eighty-eight percent passing accuracy, Asheer Akhtar made three clearances and two tackles.
Muthu Mayakkannan – 7
He became one of the key players in the defensive midfield. Stephen Eze’s foul on Mayakkannan gave Eze a second yellow, and he had to leave the pitch. Muthu created four chances, made four tackles, and one clearance.
Substitutes
Macarton Nickson – 7.0
The midfielder was substituted in the 80th minute. Within two minutes, he scored his first goal in the Indian Super League. His right-footed shot completely beat Albino, hitting the top right corner for the fourth goal. He attempted a second shot from the same location, but it went off-target.
Redeem Tlang – 6
Completed seven out of seven passes. Created one chance for Alaeddine Ajaraie.
Ankith Padmanabhan – N/A
Made his ISL debut, playing for 25 minutes.
Tondonba Singh – N/A
Jamshedpur FC (by Aasif Ali)
Albino Gomes – 4.5
The goalkeeper conceded five goals and had just seven successful passes out of 21 in the entire 90 minutes. Albino made three saves on a night to forget for him and his team.
Ashutosh Mehta – 5.5
Most of NorthEast United’s attacks were concentrated on Ashutosh Mehta’s flank. He completed seven clearances, four tackles, and three interceptions in the game and was arguably Jamshedpur’s best defender.
Pratik Chaudhari – 5.0
It was a game to forget for Pratik as the Red Miners’ backline crumbled after Stephen Eze’s red card. He made a total of five clearances and two interceptions.
Muhammed Uvais – 5.0
The defender was not much involved in the game as NorthEast United had most of the ball. He attempted a few long balls but only had a 38% success rate.
Sourav Das – 5.0
Playing as Jamshedpur’s defensive midfielder, Sourav Das couldn’t influence the game at all as NorthEast United piled up attack after attack in the first half. He was substituted at halftime to accommodate Aniket Jadhav.
Imran Khan – 5.0
The right winger only completed five successful passes in the first half and was hardly involved in the game. Imran Khan was substituted at halftime by Khalid Jamil.
Mohammed Sanan – 5.5
Sanan was not much involved in the game as NorthEast had more of the possession and the chances in the first half. He was substituted in the 33rd minute after Stephen Eze went off.
Substitutes
Wungngayam Muirang – 5.0
He was substituted into the game in the 33rd minute but hardly had any influence on the Highlanders’ defense. Muirang attempted a shot from far out in the second half, however it missed the target.
Aniket Jadhav – 5.5
Aniket Jadhav was brought on at halftime to help bolster Jamshedpur FC’s midfield. The 24-year-old was somewhat involved and helped his side get some control over the game.
Seiminlen Doungel – 5.5
Brought on at halftime, he had the first big chance for Jamshedpur in the 58th minute, but he failed to convert it. Len Doungel did, however, add some spark to his team’s attack.
