Odisha FC part ways Brazilian forward Diego Mauricio ahead of ISL 2025-26

Diego Mauricio is Odisha FC’s all-time leading goalscorer.
After a disappointing ISL campaign, Odisha FC now seems determined to undergo a major overhaul in its foreign roster to start things afresh for the upcoming season. Diego Mauricio has been one of the very few players to have been playing for the Juggernauts for a long time.
Not just on the pitch, Mauricio’s performance has made him a fan favourite in the Kalinga. The chants of “Diego, Diego, Diego” echoing through the stands will no longer be heard as the Brazilian maestro has bid adieu to Odisha FC after rendering his services for five seasons.
Diego Mauricio’s stellar stint with Odisha FC

Diego Mauricio played under three different coaches in Odisha FC. From Stuart Baxter, Josep Gombau, to Sergio Lobera, he has been one of the indispensable components in the Odisha FC setup. He has been the face of Odisha FC’s attacking prowess over these years.
Apart from scoring late winners to rescue his side in clutch moments, he has also earned massive respect and admiration from the local fans for his down-to-earth and gullible nature. He was often seen initiating the Viking Claps celebrations, post Odisha FC’s victory at the Kalinga.
Throughout five seasons, Diego Mauricio has made 88 appearances and scored 44 goals for Odisha FC along side 13 assists in ISL. Alongside Carlos Delgado and Jerry, he holds this rare feat of playing 100+ matches for the Juggernauts, reflecting his loyalty and commitment.
Way forward for Odisha FC
With Diego Mauricio departing, Odisha FC will be keen to find an appropriate replacement who can fill Mauricio’s void in the team. With Roy Krishna’s contract expiring as well, Odisha FC is expected to sign a solid striker to fix Odisha’s goal-scoring woes.
Sergio Lobera generally prefers tried and tested players in the league. Looking at the available strikers in Transfermarkt, someone like Jorge Pereyra Diaz or Jordan Murray could be a better replacement for the Juggernauts.
