The Gaurs are back in the ISL semis after three seasons.

FC Goa made it to the headlines and eliminated their southern rivals Chennaiyin FC from the ISL playoffs with a dominant 2-1 win at home. With this win, the Gaurs have now booked a meeting with Mumbai City FC in the two-legged semi-final.

The home side were clearly the better outfit on the night and did not let their opponents have a chance to fight back. A Brandon Fernandes masterclass coupled with a wonderful goal from Noah Sadaoui sealed the deal for the Gaurs.

Let us now take a look at the talking points from the game.

3. Missed chances comeback to haunt Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC created a lot of chances throughout the game and were very close to scoring a lot of times, but lacked the final touch everytime. It was a tale of missed and unconverted chances for the two time champions which cost them the game. Moreover, a lack of intent was also visible as FC Goa outplayed them in a lot of aspects.

2. FC Goa pull off three back-to-back wins against Chennaiyin FC

FC Goa continued their one-sided domination against the Marina Machans and pulled off their third consecutive win of the season against them. They won the first game 0-3 away from home before securing a 4-1 win a few days back. They have scored nine goals this season against Chennaiyin FC and have conceded just twice.

1. FC Goa end semi-final drought

FC Goa took a sigh of relief as they brought an end to their three-year semi-final drought having last featured in the semis back in the 2020-21 edition. It has been a season to remember for the Gaurs under their new head coach Manolo Marquez who has turned them into a perfectly oiled machine. They are currently high on confidence and will face Mumbai City FC up next.
