ISL 2023-24 Playoffs updated bracket: FC Goa edge past Chennaiyin, march into semis

FC Goa will take on Mumbai City FC in the ISL semi-finals.
An exemplifying contest of football came to an end at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa with FC Goa registering a thrilling win in the knockout stage of the ISL to go through to the semi-finals.
A game that witnessed intensifying approach from both sides, started with some interesting performances. It was the home team who took the lead in the match, courtesy a goal from Noah Sadaoui in the 36th minute.
Brandon Fernandes immediately came up with another goal to double the lead before the conclusion of the first half. But when it looked like Chennaiyin FC would go into the break without any score on the board, Lazar Cirkovic found the net in the 49th minute.
The second half was all about the contest going till the last minute. While Chennai never looked to give up, Goa did their best to keep their opponent away from finding the equalizer. At the end, without running into extra-time, FC Goa managed to win the contest by a 2-1 margin and progress to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, they will be facing Mumbai City FC, who finished second in the league stage. With both the teams in sublime form, it will be interesting to see who gets the last laugh after the conclusion of the two-legged semi-final fixture.
On the other side of the bracket, Odisha FC have found their way into the ISL semi-finals after defeating Kerala Blasters yesterday at the Kalinga Stadium. They will be facing the ever dominant and the ISL Shield winner Mohun Bagan.
With the season coming towards an end, the competition is just getting better with the level of performances. Stay tuned with us, as the the ISL now moves to the next round where four teams will contest to find a spot in the season’s final.
