Punjab FC continued their wonderful start to ISL 11 season with yet another victory.

Punjab FC registered a convincing 2-0 win over Hyderabad FC in the opening game of match week 3 of the Indian Super League 2024-25. The win sees the Shers climb to the top of the ISL table. 

Goals by Mrzjlak and Vidal in either halves, sealed a comfortable 2-0 win for the Shers, to keep the momentum going for them, and ensure that their amazing start to the season continues. 

Here are the Indian player ratings from the game. 

Punjab FC Ratings (By Keshava Verma)

Ravi Kumar – 6.5

Did not have a lot to do throughout the game, and made just a single save. 

Khaiminthang Lhungdim – 7.5

Played several passes into the final third, and was precise with his defensive actions on the wings.

Suresh Meitei – 7.5

Made many clearances, and was excellent with his ball recoveries. Put in a real shift to get his side a clean sheet. 

Abhishek Singh – 6.5

Did not have the best of nights, as he failed to produce any quality with the ball. His defensive actions were also not at par with his usual performances. 

Vinit Rai – 6.5

Had a slightly disappointing night, as he missed his usual sharpness in the middle of the pitch, and was not making any moves in the middle of the field for Punjab. He was subbed off in the 59th minute. 

Nikhil Prabhu – 8

Nikhil was amazing with his defensive abilities, and made five interceptions, whilst winning four duels. His long balls were also quite accurate.

Nihal Sudeesh – 7.5

Did not create any solid chance for his side, but was pretty lively in the wings, repeatedly making runs down the line and creating a nuisance on the field. 

Substitutes

Leon Augustin – 8

Leon was very lively ever since coming on, and was great was his pressing. His passes were also pretty decent, and he was once again impressive with his display. 

Ricky John Shabong – 7

Did not have a lot to contribute after coming on, but was satisfactory with his presence in the midfield. 

Hyderabad FC Ratings (By Preeti R)

Arshdeep Singh – 5

Arshdeep had made a few crucial saves but also made costly errors that led to Punjab FC’s victory, Despite his efforts he had conceded two goals and his performance fell short of expectations

Alex Saji – 6.5

He could not stop the Punjab FC players from scoring despite doing well defensively. Made some quality interceptions and tackles but ran into Arshdeep which was one of the reasons why there was no defender present during the second goal.

Muhammad Rafi – 7

He was one of the most impressive defenders with his blocks and interceptions and played a crucial role in the team’s defensive efforts, but a yellow card marred his otherwise impressive performance

Parag Shrivas – 6

Parag Shrivas’s performance was underwhelming in the match. He struggled to make a significant impact and was eventually substituted in the second half.

Ayush Adhikari – 6.5

Ayush was one of the midfielders who was trying to contribute offensively and defensively as well Despite being forced off due to a tackle, his impact on the game was evident. His presence in the middle of the park provided a strong foundation for the team

Lenny Rodriguez – 7

Lenny Rodriguez had established himself as the most commanding midfielder of Hyderabad FC, His heatmap reflected his tireless work rate and presence all over the field

Devendra Murgaokar – 6

Devendra had a relatively average match as he struggled to make a significant impact, While he made some promising runs, he was getting outrun easily by the opposition

Ramhlunchhunga – 7

The midfielder’s attacking play was evident throughout the match, as he consistently found space and created opportunities. However, despite his promising runs and efforts to finish, he was unable to convert his chances into goals.

Abdul Rabeeh – 6.5

Abdul Rabeeh displayed glimpses of his attacking potential during the match, creating several scoring opportunities. However, his finishing touch was lacking, as he struggled to convert his chances into goals.

Leander D Cunha – 5

Leander did not have a good day at the office. Not only was he struggling with his passing accuracy he also failed to maintain control in key moments. To make matters worse he even received two yellow cards there by converting it into a red and had to leave the pitch mid-game. He was the weakest link of Hyderabad FC

Substitutes

Abhijith PA – 6.5

Abhijith who had come in for Ayush Adhikari did his job well, He was often trying to penetrate through Punjab’s defence and tried to create chances

Sourav K – 5.5

Sourav who had come off the bench and replaced Ramhlunchhunga in the 73rd minute contributed to the team’s efforts. While his performance did not stand he was calm and steady and did his part well.

Laidanmawia – N/A

He entered the game in the final ten minutes. He had limited time to make a significant impact and delivered a decent performance
