ISL 2024-25: Punjab FC vs Hyderabad FC – Build-up

Punjab FC will look to get three consecutive wins for the first time in their ISL history. Victories in their last three ISL games mean that Punjab FC have now won the most matches on a trot ever for them in the ISL. However, they will be concerned with not keeping a clean sheet in any of their previous six games, highlighting areas of improvement in their gameplay.

The third round of matches of the 11th edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) takes us to the capital, as Punjab FC take on Hyderabad FC on Wednesday, 25th of September. 

The midweek match is all set to be an exciting clash between two brilliant teams, with both having a great blend of talented players at their disposal, who will give their best to get the points for their respective teams. 

The Stakes

The Shers have a perfect record in the league so far, winning both their opening games. Dilmperis’ men seem to be quite high on confidence, and the momentum also appears to be on their end, after emphatic wins against giants like Odisha FC and Kerala Blasters. With another home fixture on the cards, Punjab will look for another win to take them top of the table, and get their momentum going. 

Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad FC on the other hand, didn’t have the best of starts to the season. Despite a tough battle against a star-studded Bengaluru FC, Hyderabad lost out to the Blues to start the season with a defeat. The Nizams will be desperate to open their account in the league table, putting in all their might to get past this tough challenge. 

Hyderabad FC’s resilience, and the strong will of their young talents, will surely make it pretty difficult for Punjab to get points away from this game, and it will be quite a battle when these two sides face off at the capital. 

Punjab FC’s young gun Nihal Sudeesh has been on top form this season. From as early as the start of the Durand Cup, Nihaal has been in the limelight for his commanding performances in the attack for Punjab. 

Punjab FC are without their talisman Luka Majcen, as the Slovenian sustained a serious injury against Kerala in the opening matchday. 

Hyderabad FC will miss Joseph Sunny, who is out with a knee injury.

Nihaal’s goal against Odisha in their last match was just a teaser of what’s to come from the 23-year-old this season, and he will surely be looking to find the back of the net once again. 

After an amazing individual campaign with Hyderabad FC last season, Rabeeh was in the spotlight in the transfer market, as several clubs were looking to acquire the services of the talented attacker. 

Rabeeh eventually stayed with the Nizams, and a lot will be expected from him this season, in terms of doing his best with his attacking endeavors and getting the goals coming in for Hyderabad. 

The 2024-25 Indian Super League match between Punjab FC and Hyderabad FC will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi on the 25th of September (Wednesday).
