Rahul KP has nine goals to his name in the Kerala Blasters shirt.
Rahul Kannoly Praveen (Rahul KP), one of Indian football’s rising stars, has completed a multi-year move to Odisha FC from Kerala Blasters, marking the end of an eventful five-year stint with the Kochi-based Indian Super League (ISL) club.
Odisha FC have announced the signing of talented forward Rahul KP on a permanent transfer from Kerala Blasters FC. The deal will see Rahul KP join the Kalinga Warriors until the end of the 2026-27 season, with an option to extend for a further year.
The 24-year-old winger, who first joined the Blasters in 2019, played 76 matches and netted nine goals during his time there. His move comes as Odisha FC looks to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
This season, Rahul KP has already made 11 appearances for Kerala Blasters, with his only goal coming in their dominant 3-0 victory against Chennaiyin FC last November. Known for his blistering pace and versatility on the wing, Rahul’s addition will bring depth to Odisha FC’s attacking options—a priority for head coach Sergio Lobera.
The Juggernauts are keen to bounce back after a tough 2-4 loss to FC Goa and aim to improve their sixth-place position in the Indian Super League (ISL) standings.
Rahul KP’s stellar footballing journey
Rahul KP’s football journey started in Thrissur, Kerala, where he first showcased his talent as the top scorer in the under-14 national championship in 2013. That breakthrough earned him a spot in the AIFF Elite Academy, preparing him for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Following the tournament, Rahul joined Indian Arrows, where he impressed with his decisive performances, including a last-minute goal against Shillong Lajong and a crucial equalizer against Mohun Bagan.
In 2019, Rahul KP signed with Kerala Blasters, quickly making a name for himself with memorable moments such as his debut goal against Hyderabad and his thrilling 94th-minute winner against Bengaluru FC in the 2020-21 season.
Despite injuries sidelining him at times, he consistently proved his mettle with impactful goals and assists, including standout contributions in the Super Cup and ISL playoffs.
Head coach, Sergio Lobera: “Rahul is a profile of a player who can fit very well into our play style. I am sure he will help us improve. I am happy with his arrival.”
Rahul KP said, “Ready for this new challenge. Odisha FC is the only team that showed interest in me. So, I am super happy to be here. Most importantly it’s the coach’s call so that makes it more amazing. Here to give my best to learn and grow. Rest I live to the Good God.”
Odisha FC, currently chasing a top-four spot, will rely on Rahul to inject fresh energy into their attack. His proven ability to step up in key moments makes him a valuable asset to the team. As Rahul begins this new chapter, fans are eager to see how his talent will help Odisha FC in their quest for success this season.
