ISL 2023-24 Semi Final: Top stats from Mumbai City FC vs FC Goa game

Mumbai City players dominated the second half against FC Goa in the ISL semi-final.

Peter Kratky’s Mumbai City FC put up a stunning display of excellent and tactful football, to systematically dismantle Manolo Marquez’s FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final second leg. After their late turnaround last week, Mumbai entered into this second leg with a one-goal advantage and had to only avoid a defeat to advance to the next stage.

The home side was composed from the very start and didn’t give Goa’s attackers any time on the ball whatsoever. Mumbai were also sharp with their attacking moves and hit the woodwork twice in the first half. Their efforts finally paid off in the 69th minute, when a loose ball from the corner was turned in by Jorge Pereyra Diaz from a few yards out. 

Just a few minutes later, Mumbai set up another brilliant and quick counter-attack, that was smoothly finished off by Chhangte, to end Goa’s ISL journey, and give the Islanders a shot at redemption, against Mohun Bagan in the grand finale of the ISL.
