Chennaiyin FC have an upper hand in the ISL playoffs qualification race.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 had two exciting matches on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Both matches had two teams who outperformed their opponents to secure a win by late goals to add three points.

In the first match, FC Goa secured a dramatic win over Jamshedpur FC with a scoreline of 3-2. While Jamshedpur FC were the first to take the lead in the match, with a goal by Rei Tachikawa in the 17th minute, Noah took the lead by a goal each by Noah Sadaoui and Carlos Martinez before the end of the first half.

Although Jamshedpur found an equalizer in the 73rd minute with Seiminlen Doungel’s goal, it was Borja Herrera’s additional time-banger in the 95th minute that spoiled the home team’s party.

The second ISL match, which almost looked like a draw till the very last minute of play, ended fascinatingly. Chennaiyin FC outclassed NorthEast United FC by a late Ankit Mukherjee goal which indeed put East Bengal’s hope down.

Aakash Sangwan and Ankit Mukherjee scored the two goals for Chennai while Jithin Madathil Subran was the only player from the visiting team to find his name on the scoring sheet. As Owen Coyle’s men are very close to qualification for the playoffs, let’s have a look at the ISL points table.
