East Bengal FC sit at the eighth place in the ISL 2024-25 table.

Bengaluru FC came back to rescue a point and shattered East Bengal’s ISL 2024-25 playoff aspirations in Kolkata tonight. The Red and Golds are now out of contention for a place in the top six and will have to put up a strong fight for pride in their last game. It was a game filled with high stakes, drama, end-to-end action and what not. The hosts knew what was at stake and looked sharp from the get go.

Diamantakos brought Gurpreet into action a few minutes after kick off before Raphael Messi Bouli broke the deadlock with an unstoppable left footed strike in the 11th minute. PV Vishnu missed two quick chances and hit the ball over the ball from inside the box. Things went south from there on for the Kolkata Giants as Diamantakos was shown a red card and they were reduced to ten men.

Souvik tried his luck from a long way out and forced Gurpreet into a flying save. Bengaluru FC created a lot of chances, but just couldn’t find the back of the net until Sunil Chhteri was awarded a penalty and he made no mistake in putting it past the keeper.
